Apparently what they do is as they land they roll forward thereby elevating the pressure on the knees. Kinda like how wrestlers land on the shoulderblades when they do suplexes and stuff.

BTW, I've seen plenty of videos where the guys will just land on their feet after a 20 foot drop and keep going, with no roll or anything. All I can think about is how they're not going to be able to walk when they're 30.
