Since this has now become the unoffical Zelda thread, I'll throw my two cents into it:
I loved Minish Cap. I played the hell out of it on the Gameboy Player and enjoyed every grueling moment of it and it's "Let's get some more kinstones!" (Or whatever they were called) gameplay.
But, back to Peach, any word on a US release date? My desire for it burns...
Paper Mario felt like a task. I reckon it's the most demoralisingly task-ish game I've played. And I got it because of a thread on this board in which no-one had a bad word to say about the game.
And thanks for warning me about Minish Cap. Just looking at screenshots of it and other games like it I thought "chore". That type of item-hunt with backtracking adventure genre needs to die, and that includes Metroids, MetroidVanias and Zeldas.
i honestly have no idea how paper mario can be considered a 'chore' compared to the snes mario rpg. that shit was the win, through and through.
in regards to zelda:

I disagree with all 216 characters in this post (no, didn't really count).Quote:

Nothing's innovative unless it's... SOAP 2. Now with the power to cure AIDS. Why does everything have to be innovative to be fun?
Now... Super Princess Peach. Eh... Barring an announcement from Nintendo and both NCSX and Play-Asia selling out, i'll import it next week. That will nearly gauruntee it being announced for December, like 2 days later. Why do they think people won't eat this up?
Who knows, but go import it! I want to hear an offical US release date now. :DQuote:

It came out yesterday in Japan, I assume some people here are importing it, so I would like impressions ASAP please ;)
Some of this might be considered spoilers, so read at your own risk.
Ok, so I imported this. Basically, it's really, really awesome. If you're a fan of Mario sidescrollers, you'll probably love it. So how does it play? Well, Peach runs by default. If you hold L or R while running, Peach will walk. I've found no real use for walking, but the option is there if you want it. If you hit down while running, Peach performs a slide kick. This takes out enemies and can be used to slide under small openings like in Mario. Hitting A makes Peach jump. Hitting A again while Peach is in the air causes her to use her umbrella to float slowly down. If you press down and B while Peach is in the air, she uses her umbrella to perform a move that is equivilant to the butt-stomp in Mario. Hitting X causes Peach to hit enemies with her umbrella. Hitting Y causes Peach to scoop up enemies with her umbrella and hold them over her head. You can then hit X to throw the ememy, or push down causing the umbrella to swallow the ememy giving you extra energy for your special moves.
Your special moves are executed via the touch screen. There are four. One causes Peach to be invincible, one engulfs her in flames, one causes her to cry, and one gives her the ability to fly. These abilities are used to solve puzzles. For example, using the fire ability on a wooden bridge will cause it to burn away allowing you access underneath the bridge. Peach also uses her umbrella for other stuff like floating in water and hanging from wires to slide down them.
The levels are layed out in typical Mario fashion in that you can just try to get to the end of the level to finish it. However, the level isn't really complete until you have found the three Toads hidden in the level. There are also boss levels. The first half of the boss levels has the action displayed on both screens. You often have to use the touch screen to shoot Peach up to the top screen or something like that. The second part of the boss levels is the boss battle itself. I won't spoil these, but I will say they have been cool so far.
Each world has five normal levels and one boss level. There are eight worlds. There are also 24 extra levels for a total of 72 levels. This is not a short game. You can also unlock mini games by finding them in the normal levels, but I haven't really messed around with these yet, so I don't know how they are. You can unlock a ton of songs in the game for sound test mode by either finding them in levels or buying them from the shop with your coins. There is also a book you can access that keeps track of and gives a description of every enemy you've encountered in the game.
You probably won't be able to read the descriptions though because they're all in Japanese. As are all of the story parts, all menus, and pretty much everything else. This doesn't really effect playing the game, because if you're ever played a Mario game, you can figure out how to play it. But for people who care, the only thing I have been able to read in the game is "Press Start".
Like I said before, if you like 2d Mario games, you'll probably love this. There's tons of classic Mario ememies, the gameplay is awesome, and the graphics are amazing.
