I can't believe this happened, I've been on WinMX for more years than I can remember. As of September 16th it was shut down due to a lawsuit threat from the RIAA.
Are there any other good file sharing programs, maybe similar to WinMX, that don't come with spyware or adware?
There's lots, just avoid the 'official' ones, and look for open source clients on sourceforge or versiontracker.
I just go Torrentspy for entire things and, I cannot believe I am typing this part, pay for single songs off ITunes.
If you want something like WinMX .. and is easy to use ... just go with LimeWire.
WinMX LAWL... you're so quaint gamecube boy. That being said, bit torrent and soulseek get me whatever I need.

Actually there is a patch out there to fix winmx, to reconnect it to the public servers.
But yeah, limewire is better overall.
