Video Podcasts

I just downloaded the latest episode of Tiki Bar TV and watched it on the shitter.

Technology is grand.

Anyone else out there dabbled in the wasteland of Video Podcasts? Have any good ones to recommend?

They aren't "podcasts" per se, but as far as independantly produced internet content - I've enjoyed Rant Media's "Patrolling" and "The Sean Kennedy TV Show". Patrolling is kind of a military-style urban survival show (for geeks mind you) and SK TV is just Sean ranting about various things.

They are in Divx/Xvid and play OK (some of the Xvid stuff is tricky) on a Philips DVP642 (the inexpensive "Divx" DVD player some of you have) a modded Xbox (well worth doing and actually quite easy) or the latest generation of Archos portable devices. You'll have to re-encode for the iPod but I'd say it's worth it.

There's also SKTFMTV, which has various entertaining things such as "Sean vs Raelians Pt 2", "Steel Wheels 4x4", "Porn at the Airport", etc. Those have some lower-res versions (actually that's all that are up for most of them) and all the really cool "Burning Man" stuff was taken down at the request of Burning Man. They may play on the iPod directly since it is an offshoot of MPEG4 and likely within a compatible resolution.

While there are direct downloads most of them are torrents and some of the older ones may be inactive....

Not quite as easily as you can rip your music from a CD and then put it on an iPod, but yes, it can be done. Takes about as much work as you would go through getting it onto a PSP.

Apple REALLY needs to have a separate section in the iTMS just for video podcasts, btw. Mixing audio and video ones is going to get annoying pretty quick.
