SO yeah Infinity broadcasting has decided that when stern leaves in January K-Rock the only station I'll listen to will become Free FM an all talk radio station
this combined with no more 101.1 means theres no station in the NY Area I can stand to listen to and radio is officially dead to me

Public Radio is the only radio worth listening to, at least in the NYC area. Lucky us, we got two. 93.9 and 90.7. 90.7 plays a lot of shit, but some good stuff too, like Stereolab, Belle and Sebastian, and the Stubbs the Zombie soundtrack.

This is what happened to HFS around here. First it was alt rock 24/7, then switched to Spanish. That lasted 2 weeks, they ended up on another Infinity station 105.7 they had Stern, Don and Mike etc, and at 7 they turned back into HFS. It stayed that way for like 3 months, and then became the official station of the MD Terps, so whenever some game was on HFS was pre-empted. I turned off my XM this morning to hear what Stern was talking about and noticed that now it's 105.7 WHFS, FREE FM.

I wasn't aware decent radio stations still existed anywhere, with the exception of NPR (and even that is often a stretch, such as the NPR here). I haven't actively listened to the radio in like 13 years. Because radio has sucked ass in every state I've lived ever since then.

The only station worth a damn in MN is Drive 105. Plays lots of old punk and newer alt rock. Local stuff too. Other than that, there's the current and public radio.
It is pretty gay for Krock to basically shut down after Stern leaves. He's been there for so long they don't know what to do without him.

Never in a million years would they give the afternoon drive slot away. Opie flipped because they gave Ron and Fez a replay at west coast afternoon drive time, and made them push the replay back to midnight. They're talking about giving him a Saturday/Sunday shift, which would be rockin', but I think he has to get fired from K-Rock first.Quote:

Subscription wise both XM and Sirius are 13 bucks a month with a one year sub being about $150. Sirius doesn't make portable radios. XM has had them for over a year now, and Sirius still has no plans. They have an MP3 player/radio combo that they market as a portable, but it doesn't actually work as a radio unless it's docked in a home or car unit. So you're shit out of luck. I have a MyFi (one of XM's portable units) and I love the thing. I take it everywhere, it records O&A for me in the morning... it's the best. Well worth the $180.
