I've made a Christmas caroller. My boss saw the elves and Santa I drew and actually allowed me to draw this guy at work. So I was actually paid to draw and design characters today.

Not as much personality as the elves, but then again I don't suspect most carollers do. Based kind of on the Charles Dickinson english style character. I've also started on Jack Frost but he's tricky.
Other times it can be the best thing to happen to some strips. Case in point: It's Walky. For about the first year or two of its lifetime it was your average, run-of-the-mill webcomic made by a college student about college, and then the creator suddenly decided to interject some seriousness into the strip. It surprised me at first, I re-read the strip when the first death happened trying to find the dark humor in the situation but saw nothing. Intrigued and a little confused as to where that came from, I kept reading and found that it began to develop into its own continuous storyline which went back and forth from light-hearted to serious that was well beyond what it started with.Quote:

Suggestion: Start doing Robobo in Illustrator. Spend 2 weeks per strip if you have to. Just make them look like the XMAS stuff.
That defeats the purpose of Robobo for me. It's all hand drawn. I don't mind doing stuff like this Christmas story through illustrator because it really separates the two. Robobo's drawings will get better over time through experience, and that's my main goal artistically with it.
It depends on what you're trying to do. Long story archs usually tend to cripple your audience base if you can't get the pages out in a timely manner. It's easier to release books all at once, because readers get the whole experience without having to triffle back and forth. Gag-a-day strips are better because you get your readership in the habit of coming back twice a week, or once a week to check out the new strips. They laugh, or not, and then leave. So whenever I get this Christmas thing done (probably by next years Christmas. I want to make sure it's polished. I'll probably be running it through you guys to help me polish it up a lot here) I'll end up doing 2 pages a day every day right up until Christmas day. I'll also eventually do short stories involving each of the 4 main characters in this style.Quote:

edit: I just drew up the 3rd member of their foursome. He's really in to the action.

The carrolling crew is complete with the acquisition of two little children to the team. I personally like the ethnic man belting it out like he owns the song.

My Frosty the Snowman design is still my personal favorite of the entire bunch thus far. The Tooth Fairy is going to be an old hag.
I'll just post the next new designs on Robobo.
