Need help, can't get any web pages to load...

My sister in law's(who lives in my house so we run off of the same router) PC won't let her get ANY web sites to load. She used IE and had a ton of garbage on her PC, you know the shit they get the dumb asses to download(WildTangent,Weatherbug,etc).

The first thing I did was download Ad aware, Spy sweeper, spybot and load them on her PC to get all the adware off. Then I loaded Mozilla Firefox but the same problems persist. It loads the app, but it won't load any pages. Any helpful suggestions?!?! Thanks.

This seems too obvious, take no offense, but is she connected properly? If it's consistant with IE and Mozilla it sounds more like a connection problem rather than being due to her computer being filled with junk.
I assume the network is fine if you're downloading stuff for her...

Nothing is getting downloaded to that PC. I'm DLing things on my PC and putting them on a disc to bring to hers. It isn't a connection problem. I install computer and phone lines for a living so I'm positive that the cable is good and connected.

Can the anti-spyware programs access the internet on her pc? like when you try to update them?

I've had similar problems with pc's that had an ISP's glitchy and useless 'internet' software installed.

Is there any packet flow on her computer?

tried powercycling the router? (unplug it for a bit and plug it back in).

Nothing can connect for updates at all. There is absolutely no internet activity. Her PC is connected to the router by a cat 5 cable. I took my wireless USB device from my PC and installed it on hers. It saw the router and connected to the wireless network, but still couldn't connect to the internet using any programs. I'm at a complete loss here.

Have you checked the router settings? Maybe you have MAC Address Filtering on. That's what mines is set up like. I just manually insert the computer's MAC address so it can access the network. You can always just turn it off too if it's on.

scan for spyware, check proxy/router settings, check the hosts file, check for lsp hijacks, yadda yadda yadda reinstall windows

Any tips on easy ways to check for ISP hijacks?
