someday being 1996 then? pope john paul 2 stated back then that evolution was "more than a theory" way back then. the only caveate we add to standard evolutionary theory is we beleive that the evolutionary step that lead to man was a special act by god, but still taking place within the accepted evolutionary framework. but evolution we have been down with for quite a while, perhaps you should update your religion rolodex?

If you're going to be smarmy, at least make sure you're correct first. The catholic church has recognized evolution for a while now.

edit, the first official recognition of evolution(with gods intervention in creation of human souls) was first put down by pius xii in 1950 in humanis generis where he says that catholics can accept the tenets of evolution so long as we acknowlege that it is a tool of God, which when you are a catholic is not so much of a streach since everything derives from god, so er..yer humor is a wee bit of a whiff.

I don't have a problem with Catholics, nor other Christians in general, but they tend to be largely against gay people and that unsettles me. Otherwise, I don't care what the 'official' Catholic acceptance of science/evolution/whatnot is. Most Catholics don't live their lives completely by the book anyway, so the main overhead saying something doesn't make that huge of a difference locally.
