Anyone a King's Quest Fan?

Hey everyone,

A group of King's Quest fans have teamed up to try and save the King's Quest IX fan game by Phoenix Online Studios. They receieved a cease and desist letter from Vivendi a couple of weeks ago (for those that haven't heard).

We recently launched a site: SaveKQIX

We are currently trying to get as many people as possible to email Vivendi, and to help we have created a form on the site, which allows you to send a pre-written email. It should only take a few seconds.

I know King's Quest is pretty old now, but if you're a fan please check it out!

Vivendi are jerkoffs they should have just let them release it its not like they were losing $ because it was a free release and fucking Sierra is done with KQ franchise anyways

Can't they just release it as Regal Quest IX, change any pertinent names in the game, and Vivendi can't touch them? Maybe it's not that simple, I'm not a lawyer.

This is what I don't get. If I were running a software company, I'd want my IP protected too. Generic non-infringing knockoffs are harmless, but don't swipe the trademarks unless you like court.

I know this isn't the reason the thread was bumped, but just to fill you in, they actually did strike an agreement with Vivendi to get their KQIX fan game back on track. They shortened the name to "The Silver Lining", but nothing else has changed. Looks good too.

Vivendi should allow them to license this game for a nominal, undisclosed fee. Protect their IP rights, but allow the game to be released. It can't be as bad as the CD-I Mario and Zelda games, and they didn't kill Nintendo's IP.
