Who here plays "Animal Crossing"?
I haven't played it in a while, and I think I'll go with the first face, now that I now I actually have control over it.
Hey Jeremy? What are you up to today?
What about you, Mzo? Josh? You guys doin' good? Hangin' in there?
I'm doin' pretty good. Listening to a little Dungen... drinking from koolaid. Life is good.
I couldn't understand that last letter.
Why are you sending me gibberish?
Just ordered it online, pls believe.
Think it's worth looking for this in stores today?
I doubt anyone would have it today. I'm planning on hitting up Best Buy tomorrow after class to grab my copy of it.Quote:

Not enough to buy a DS and this game. I lose.

Instant purchase.
Glad I never played the original, otherwise this game would be crap! :(
Fantastic! At least this is the only game I want for the system. Perhaps Nintendo can fuck off.Quote:

Anyways, joking aside I will be getting this a week and a half from now and plan on making my village old school game/shooter themed.
I will be buying Tokobot tomorrow instead though since thanks to James, it is getting some very good early buzz as the PSP's first solid platform adventure.
I... I... I... :xx:Quote:

I like all of Jeremy Parish's reviews; they are always creative like that.
Craig gives it an 8.8:

edit: Just finished it, very good read. Being able to knock presents out of the sky plus viral letters and constellation patterns invading other DS systems online sounds sweet.
Good reviews for this so far. I agree with the 1UP comic about the NES games. Damn Nintendo for nixing them in this.
i'm probably getting this tomorrow.
either this or mario & luigi.
Indeed.Quote:

I'm a little freaked out with all this talk that it's almost identical to the Cube version. After all, I've spent countless hundreds of hours with that game and seen all the holidays, I was hoping for more than a port....
Unless, of course, you want to search for the review based on text in it, copy and paste the text, or anything else like that.Quote:

Oh wah. There's hundreds of gaming sites around, and aside from this one, they'll all have text reviews that'll say the exact same things with slightly rearranged wording. Good for Toasty & 1up for doing something different.Quote:

I'm sure anyone who gets on with TNLers will no doubt hear a "Mortal Kombat" or two from their citizens. :)
I got a lot more from it than Shoe and Jenn's respective 7.0 and 7.5 accompanied by one paragraph of text FWIW.Quote:

Apparently Ziff Davis needs to make some of their staffers read Nintendo Power preview articles. Funny.
Now here is an NOA employee I'd like to get to know better:

None of the stores here are getting this until tomorrow.
Eff bomb. I have all of today off, and this comes out tomorrow when I'll have finals to do and study for ;_________________; slit slit slit
? It's out today.
Bestbuy and Gamestop yesterday told me it'd be here today.
I just called all the game stores in my area and they didn't have it yet. They said they haven't got their shipments yet. That means I won't get it until tomorrow because I have to go to work. :(
Yeah, no one is allowed to get it until it is in my hands first.
Just an FYI. <3
What the heck is wrong with the shipments today? No AC and I can't find Tokobot in anywhere yet either.
Tokobot doesn't surprise me. But AC was scheduled for the 5th. Korly has it YOU LOST!
I'll hit up TRU after work, as they were the only ones in my area to have Mario Kart on Tuesday when it came out.
-5 HERO POINTS FOR DOWNING JEREMY PARISH!
Parish got 25 when he posted that review, btw.
Cool bit of interaction from the the game revealed in Toasty's 1up blog:
Quote:
The game continues to impress me with its unexpected features. This morning I found a kitten by the name of Katie crying her eyes out in front of Nook's shop, asking me to lead her back to E.M.L.'s village of Faertown. And when I logged on to 1UP, there was a private message from E.M.L. telling me about a mother cat named Kaitlin whose daughter was lost in my town. I haven't actually been to Faertown since last week (Thursday, I think?), so this was a clever little synchronized time-release event intended to goad us into getting online.
Myk picked it up, I'm picking mine up in 30 minutes.
ftw bitches.
I expect fucking progress updates you motherfucker.
I don't get out until 5, I'll be home and playing it by 7 GG
I'll be picking mine up after work. Too bad I have to go to class afterwards. I wanted to spend the day making superhero shirts.
Believe that I'm going to play this while freezing my ass off waiting for a 360 on the 17th/18thQuote:

Why's everybody so jazzed up about this game. I thought its suppose to be worse than the last one and the online play it setup really shitty? I dont get it.

I don't know how it could be worse than the Gamecube version considering that it improves on certain aspects (such as using the stylus for inventory management), unless you'll really, really miss the NES games.Quote:

So check it. I just bought it and I'm setting up the wireless functionality on my router.
I have a bunch of options:
B only. G and B. G only. Auto 108mbps. 108mbps only.
Which should I select? The only wireless device I will be using is my DS.
Also, I'm concerned about security since I used to drive around with my laptop and jump on peroples network's and mess with their shit. What can I do to prevent assholes like me from having sex with my network?
So when you go to the town gate does it list all your friends/codes/who are online or do you always have to go to each village "manually"/one at a time?
Update. My DS has informed me that I have three wireless networks I can access from here. How exciting.
How do I go ahead and visit you faggots?
Why couldn't this have been released yesterday. Work is busy as crap, no way would I be able to enjoy it today. >: (
B is useless and has no security. G is the standard with WPA-PSK security (which translates to: You make a catchphrase that has to be entered to gain access to your network), if people bother to enable it which is really only about half the time if you're interesting leeching (which you are). The other two are stronger signal forms of G, IIRC.Quote:

I'm using B right now for my home wireless network just fine, thanks. Some things can't handle G only - can the DS? I'm not so sure.Quote:

Hey you nerds, put your codes in the ACWW thread in Online Gaming!
WTF Nook put the same shit up the next day (net and fishing pole.)
SOMEONE BUY ME A SHOVEL PLEASE.
My code in this thread isn't valid anymore. I put up my new one in the Online Forum.Quote:

I read that the game was 90% identical to the Cube version in the IGN review (the only one aside from 1up's available at the time), and subsequent reviews have pretty much echoed the sentiment that it's the Cube version - NES games + a few new items/characters/options + Online play.Quote:

So do both of you have to be on at the same time to visit each other's towns? Does this apply to sending things through the mail too? Inquiring minds want to know.
Yes and yes. It's the ad-hoc multiplayer but online. Since nothing is saved online, active people are needed, young jeezie.Quote:

I'm on my way in a few minutes to go (try to) pick up a copy. My only question is do I play as a boy, or continue with my ambiguous gender persona and play as a girl. The boy model now has a haircut almost exactly like mine, though, so that gives me good reason to lean that way.
I had a date with my town eagle. I missed him by 3 hours. He was pissed as well. But I punched him and he got over it.Quote:

I'm tempted to wait on this game because with games like this I generally get burned as an early adopter. By the time Animal Crossing caught on fire in the mainstream I had already been playing it for months and collected almost everything, with Nintendogs only now am I seeing lots of people playing it in public now that bark mode is useless to me because I've unlocked almost everything.
Anyone else thinking along the same lines? That said I'll probably pick this up tommorow.
