Jury Duty

*shrugs* That's what the judge told us. I don't plan on being called, so here's to hopin'.

I had a student who served for three days, and when another juror was kicked out, he was offered to finish up the trial. At $40 a day plus expenses, he promptly brought me a letter excusing him from class.

been called 5 times and never been selected. would like to go through the full process at least once :(

last time i was called, it was jury appreciation week. they handed out those rubber jar openers that had the saying "I served my State" or something like that, lol

This probably has a better chance of getting you on jury duty. The defendants get to choose, and if they want someone who's sympathetic towards whites or blacks they're more likely to choose you. People with a good head on their shoulders don't need to pretend anything to get out of jury duty. Eventually the lawyers will realize it and kicked them out anyway.

I think Jonas has been called for jury duty like 3 times.

I went to county jury and we were excused. One week later, I received a city jury notice; I blew it off.

It's very unlikely that they'll call you on missing the court date. How are they going to prove that you received the notice in the mail?

I got chosen to serve in a trial about a mugging. As I had been mugged before, I was excused.

Maybe that's how it works in backwards ass Canada.

There's no way they'd let the defendant's lawyer pick the entire jury though, that's just fucking stupid.

Come on, you know the answer to that.

Woo! Done. Nobody got called, so we all just sat there for five hours. It was pretty productive for me too. I finished an old issue of Play, lame ending of Castlevania PSP, the first case in PW:TaT (how apt!), and even worked some Picross DS in there.

I'm looking forward to next year. The only sucky part was waking up early and the 30 mile drive.

Protip: If you want out of Jury Duty, tell them your work involves government purchasing.
