I agree. I'm not putting up my xmas av for at least a few weeks.

Worst cases of jumping the gun I've seen for xmas this year, however, are the local malls. They've had their Santas out since November 1st. wtf.

shit, every freakin store has xmas stuff up, holiday music is all over the radio, ads in newspapers, magazines, tv, etc already.

Yeah we've had christmas music on at the restaurant since halloween. Spending 60 hours a week listening to all the "hip" renditions of the same 5 songs can really wear on your soul. Bbobb is right though, after thanksgiving it's fair game.

No photoshopping for me this year. I did all my design on my laptop and it has since shit the bed.

Man that was good times though. Maybe I'll see about getting set up on my gaming PC to make some avs.

That's exactly why they try to making the 'shopping' period longer by having Santas out on November 1st and decorations.

Day after Thanksgiving is the official start to the Christmas season, so far as I'm concerned. Any Xmas stuff before that is ridiculous, but once Thanksgiving is over, everything is fair game.

I followed the tutorial on a larger image and the snow looks awesome. It looks like crap when i do it on a avatar though.

Shidoshi's like wins though. I never thought of trying it that way...

Yeah, after a bit of playing around with it, it definitely isn't made to be done on smaller images. If you're going to use it for an avatar, do it on the full sized image first, then crop and shrink it down to avatar dimensions.

Use a feathered brush and dot without streaking. Start smaller for farther away snow and get bigger for closer snow. Adding a slight transparency of 80% may help.

I was trying the method in Shidoshi's link which (as previously mentioned) turns out quite well on larger images, and quite poorly on smaller ones.

That's how a lot of stuff is learned in photoshop. You try one thing, it comes out as another. Don't get all upset, Error, you still get good points for atleast trying.
