Okay, okay, I'm officially a King Kong sucker. @ 10 years old I made my dad take me to the remake and made him stay to watch it again. Peter Jackson, the big monkey, and Jack Black. I wouldn't be surprised if I want to see this one twice in a row too.

As far as I'm concerned your King Kong thread was tarnished by idiotic anti-Jack Black rambling and should be disbarred and deleted from the face of TNL. This is now the new home of King Kong. I support haohmaru in his decision to restart a fresh thread for what scholars are predicting will be the cinematic masterpiece of the century. Of course the century is only 5 years old, but lets face it, this is as good as it gets.

I can't believe how amazing this movie is looking. The visual effects look good enough to carry the movie, and the acting good / hammy enough to really capitalize on the old classic and bring it in to a fresh light. I have been waiting for this movie to come out since its first trailer. It just looks so awesome.
If this is anything less than spectacular I will be severely disappointed.

I saw a making of type thing on Dateline on Friday. It made this movie really seem amazing. I'm extremely excited for it and I hope it lives up to the Lord of the Rings hype it has going. Peter Jackson just keeps getting even though he keeps getting skinnier. C'mon! Stay fat!
Anyways, Jack Black deserves a chance at proving his drama acting skills. I truely believe that MANY comedians are comedians by choice. Do you realize how hard it is to turn your game face on to do a stand up routine? It's hard as hell to do and therefore I think a lot of this 'he's a comedian only' actor crap needs to end. These guys are actors and I'm thinking Jack Black will prove all you pre-judgers wrong.
FWIW, Jackson said in the Premiere article that they held Black back and tried to put his comedy into a more subtle "1930s con-man" approach. Based on how he talks in the trailer I don't think he will be a spaz.
I never had anything against him (JB), but if this movie is faithful to the original, he's the #3 star in the film and his impact, even if bad, shouldn't be that profound. It's about KK and his love interest, after all.
And, I didn't think the 76 remake was bad at all - I liked it. Hopefully this is even better than that.
