I have't been keeping track of computer shit much anymore. Anways, I got Battlefield 2 and I can't run the damn game because my ti4200 isn't good enough for EA. Anyhow, I think it's time to finally upgrade. I figure I'll ask for it for christmas, so I'm wondering what the best card would be in the $300 to 350 range. I don't have any preference towards Nvidia or Radeon.
You may be able to find the GeForce 7800 on sale for around that much, and it's the newest, hippest card at the moment.Quote:

The 7800s are hot right now but I seriously doubt you'll find a cheap one (or even one at all), so you may have to hold back and get a 6600GT or 6800GT (both nvidia cards) in your flavour of graphics port.
I just bought a 7800GT too for 330 euros, not on sale (although it was the cheapest one), so you can definately get one within your budget as the US is cheaper.
I'd go for that, as the 6800 Ultras' were only selling at like 30 euros cheaper, so it's not a big step up in price, and the 6800GTs weren't much cheaper than the Ultras either. I guess the price schemes will be the same in America too.

to run that game well you'll need 2 gig of ram. but i also second the 7800gt vote. i think some places had them for $280 this past week.

Radeon's coming out with something new soon, the R5-something or other. Shit's always being releases.
So I'm looking... and I don't see any AGP 7800.... Fucking technology. Could someone steer me in the direction of the next best card that has AGP support (doh).
