One thing that I've found which is kinda disappointing is that your dialogue choices aren't really choices, sometimes. They way dialogue works is you get a few 'ideas', I guess - short sentences that give an indication as to what you will say.
I rerolled a Soldier to see how much different it would play, and noticed that a lot of your character's dialogue is the same, no matter which option you choose.
Say for instance some dude says "LOL, GOT YOU, NOW YOU'RE FUCKED!" and your responses are "It doesn't have to be like this...", "I'll kill you!" and "I'm not afraid of you.". Now, it's kind of presented that each of these options will give you a unique angle to play, but in my experiences so far, quite often they all lead to the same piece of dialogue. Using the above example, for instance, your character might say "Stand down or I will use force!".
So it never makes what is being said come across disjointed or anything like that, and the regular player will never even notice it on their first play through, but I personally kinda feel a little ripped off.
Don't get me wrong, there are conversations that can be played out quite differently depending on how you treat your subject, but I guess I took the fact that they bother to present you with options for all conversations to mean there would be different responses for all of them.
Regardless, this is an amazing game, and I cannot put it down.
I hate all of you that have this as no stores around here can supply me yet.
I'm sure it'll be fine for more than one playthrough.
I'm looking forward to this game more than any other game ever, I wish it were perfect.
Planescape: Torment wasn't perfect either. There's no such thing as a perfect game. Except StarCraft: Brood War of course.
I haven't noticed this, since I haven't experimented like you have, but maybe they could still affect your alignment or something?Quote:
