I really wish I was home playing this right now :(
Eh, it might not be so bad later in the game, but the accuracy is absolutely terrible early on.
This game is fantastic!!!!!!
You're done, fucker.
Random observation: The six wheelie thing you drive on planets remind me of Moon Patrol. They should do a MP update with that.
Ok so for this game, some things I think are really blown out proportion.
1. The inventory, is it convulted, yes, but it still takes me like a whole 10 seconds to find what items I want to deal with. I expected to spend like five minutes trying to go through the inventory list, but at about 10 hours in it's still completely manageable. I do wish I could highlight multiple items and sell them at the same time though, that'd help quite a bit.
2. The vehicle, it isn't perfect definitely not, but it's still retardedly beastly. It's hard to move and aim, so I just stop in one spot and take shit out, the thing is so fast that you can stop, get your shot off, move a few inches and dodge every incoming bullet, and shoot again. The only time driving it actually gives me trouble is when I'm facing the camera with the vehicle, then it can't seem to make up it's mind which direction it wants to go, so that's pretty bad.
3. Having done a few more sidequests etc, the combat is becoming really easy, it also helps that I finally could afford a better pistol than the one I found on Eden prime. I'm probably gonna shift it to max difficulty then to make that a bit harder.
4. I don't mind shifting through Generic planet 1a, but what bothers me more for some reason is that "Mercenary Strongholds" are the exact same each time. Same number of units inside, same exact design, completely uninspired. There needs to be more things like the mission on Luna, the design was really cool and actually remotely difficult at times being swarmed by drones that can blast down your shields in one hit.
6. If you know any games with Dialog trees like these besides Bloodlines the Masquerade, let me know because I really enjoy shifting through them for some reason. I love finding out about the whole universe and talking to people just about random things (Which makes watching me play very very boring). Bloodlines did it better if only because the setting is so much more twisted that it allows for genuinely more interesting and unrealistic conversations.

Thief, is you think it's easy now, you will begin to own shit with your adepts soon.
Planescape: Torment.
1) Agree, it is not as bad as I thought (after reading people's comments).
2) You know what I do? I jump instead of moving. Everytime I jump, the enemies aim high and I see missiles flying over me, hehe.
4) Agree, needs more variety.
6) Love the dialog too.
7) I HATE ELEVATORS!!!!
Yeah, not too hard to just shoot shit with the Mako and then just jump when the enemy missiles get close.
Also when you jump it automatically turns your vehicle in the direction your facing if you try to move forward while jumping, which is a solution to my camera angle problem.
I'm watching Maryland's bowl game and all I keep thinking about is I don't give a shit if my team wins, I just want it to end so I can play Mass Effect.
I'm 10:30 in and already at the Citadel. One week until my eBay auction selling the game ends and I'll probably have time to go through again as a good guy. I'm glad the game was quick.
Also, the sex scene is lame.
Agreed, I was hoping it would be a step towards equality in how far video games can go without being completely chastised by the mainstream, but not even remotely close to it.
Yeah, definitely done with too much taste. Needs more anal and butt smacking.
Agreed.
Needs 2girls1cup.
I just beat the game in ~11 hours (3 days... I love winter break. I haven't played a video game since the summer)). Awesome game. I had no clue the game was supposed to be part of a trilogy until the ending.
I didn't use biotics at all. I'm going to play through again with my same character on Insanity assuming I can go paragon instead of renegade.
I'm almost done and the combat has become GoW. I'm not complaining at all mind you. It feels good to take out Geth with the Shotty + Fire rounds. I love watching them burn up.
The only biotics i have found usefull is stasis, and Throw. Throw is REALLY good. knocks em on their asses for free.
One thing i am getting annoyed at though is the bull. The Krogen and the Destroyers especially will do this. just run right up to you and smack you in the grill. Hurts like a bitch. But its nice to kill them as they run and see them fall and slide on the ground.
Game is Love for me.
Also:Not even a friggin side boob!
Agreed about the combat.
I played the game more as a FPS than an RPG.
And I loved it for allowing me to do that.
And I paused constantly during every encounter to give orders, figure out target priority, and aim. Even if it is action-based, the game still let me play it like an RPG.
It's great.
Major Spoiler: I really didn't expect Kailen to die, good show
lol pussy-whipped
Actually, you save him - if you let Ashley die.
Obviously bVork, but my team = me, Tali, Ashley, no way was Igoing without her. Though Wrex filled in nicely. Also I guess you can't get it on with a female character with another female character other than the consort. All I have to say is boo.
Wait, what are you talking about?
Thief is addicted to digital sex scenes.
You let Kaiden die? Bros before hos man, what the hell!? I did too. Fuck him and his stupid gay haircut
I play with Ashley too. Biotics are homo. Soldiers fo life.
I'd be just as well off without any teammates though. Maybe even better off.
How about you spoiler the first part of that so you don't ruin it for anyone else?
Also just beat this and the ending was pretty perfect, everything wrapped up wonderfully. I'm confused though, if I start a new game how does that work? Does it copy my character's stats over but let me remake the character? (Can't use the good TV at the moment so dont' have the chance to play through)
Also WTB mass effect 2 now :(
You keep the same character, resetting alignment and skill points. So you can't change classes, but at least you can readjust the skills for all of your squadmembers. Just make sure that you change the difficulty before you leave Eden Prime if you are going for the higher difficulty achievements.
Somehow, even though I played the entire game with the Tali and Ashley I didn't get the achievements for it :/ Pretty argh about that.
Yes you can. Liara swings both ways.
You have to do the majority of EVERYTHING with the characters. That includes sidequests. If you missed a lot of sidequests, that will count against the percentage of the game done with those party members.
>.< Boo urns. I think I saved over my saves too. Well shit. Oh well more things to do when I buy the game at a later date.
The best part is how little Star Wars influence there is, people always hark on Sci-Fi games because "OMG STAR WARS DID IT FIRST"
Beat it.
Love it.
Will play again on Renegade.
Last Boss beaten on one try.
As much as i love the game..the constant suicides was disheartening. Though Serans was the only one to make me go "Oh Shit". They dont cut away like they did with the other ones. straight through and through.
All in all i cant wait for the sequels.
All i ask is for more movement during the dialog scenes. Have them do something else besides just stand there.
I always wanted to play Starflight for the genesis.... That and Star Control 2need a sequel.
Star Control 2 had a sequel. Unfortunately, it was not good.
Try out Captain Blood if you're into science fiction strangeness. Anyone bitching about how aliens always speak English will be pleased by the realistic approach it takes to cross-species conversation.
So I finally picked this up and I'm about 10 levels in and this game is a giant pile of shit.
Please tell me it gets better.
Go back to playing Mortal Kombat.
Nope, may as well sell it on Ebay now. If you don't like it then you won't like the rest of it. Unless of course you're having trouble with something?
Edit: Well that's not true, there are some very awesome moments, but if you're going to call it a pile of shit then most likely you won't enjoy it. So basically what don't you like, and see if there's something to fix that mayhaps. The combat gets easier once you start getting more skills, eventually you're just wreckin shit unless you don't ever go under cover.
Also starting out brand new character and putting it to hardcore mode without all the skills you get later on, is pretty brutal.
I tried the side quest where there is basically an army of Husks and that took me entering and exiting like 3 times mid combat.
He started in Hardcore mode?
Bad idea.
Nono, he can't. I was talking about me, who after I beat the game, started a new character in hardcore mode.
The way achievements in this game benefit you though is one of the best ideas around.
I tried it as a soldier >.< Though I do have Throw.
I decided to save Hardcore mode for when I get the game myself anyways.
You should have used Singularity more and given that to the soldier. With singularity they're invincible.
Let's hope that EA doesn't smash that dream. :(

if you dont like it first off, then i dunno what would change it. As awesome as the story planets looked and felt, it was too short for me, i felt like i was doing sidequests JUST to prolong the game for me.
This game is just too dang good. Game of the year for me. I dont want it to ever end.
So I read in EGM that they couldn't flip Mako over. I managed to do that (by accident) and it is not a good thing since you are stuck (can't save, can't flip over).
Hold A when you're flipped upside down for 3 seconds or more and you'll flip over
I really wasn't that taken with the game at first either, but by the end of it, I definitely felt it was a GotY contender. For me, the game didn't really hit its stride until you get off the citadel. Of course, if you think the game is utter shit from the start, you probably won't ever enjoy it...
The game doesn't even warm up until you've past the Citadel and have a nice selection of skills in your crew. But it has it's share of flaws that is bound to turn some people away.
Yeah, that doesn't matter at all. I respect this game so much more for being willing to do that. This game does have it's share of flaws, but I found that for me the great of the game far outweighed the bad. It's one of those games I love and will swear by, but won't be surprised when other people hate it.
Yeah, it's true all the characters level up together ala kotor, but it's not like you're developing relationships with the characters you're not using.
And I went way past the citadel on my first play. The thing is, KOTOR is like, one of my top 5 games of all time. I'm really disappointed.
Well since the relationship as far as I know only really matters with the opposite sex, kill off the other person. Also it seems like people who didn't like Kotor love Mass Effect, and people who loved it hate Mass effect or love it.
I loved KoTOR, hated KoTOR II, and loved ME. I win.
Did anyone finish the sidequest UNC: Privateers?
I did the first 2 steps:
Go to Xawin
Find Garoth
But the 3rd step: Go to the Strennus System (Search for Garoth's brother and ship), I can't find anything on the planet or the system.... grrrr.
Where the hell is the Insanity difficulty? I just restarted with my character and it only goes to Hardcore.
edit--Fuck, gotta beat it on Hardcore to get Insanity. I'm not playing through 3x.
Doubleedit--Bah, it's too easy on hardcore.
You played through twice on normal? Silly man.
But yes, hardcore is silly easy considering, although Insanity is most definitely the step up you'd expect. At least from what I played, as I still need to go back and finish that run.You could try talking to them, but I guess you've always preferred to solve our relationship problems by drinking instead.Quote:

Nono, i'm playing through my 2nd time right now on Hardcore. I'm on the 2nd of the 3 missions on the outer planets in under 3 hours. There's been a few hard parts, but not as hard as a new character on Normal.
I said I won't play 3 times because apparently you need to beat hardcore to get Insanity and a 3rd time through just to play Insanity isn't worth it imo.
I can't tell if I like this game or not yet. Just got to the citadel so obviously haven't seen much but Eden Prime was... nice? I think I like the game but the interface and power wheels are not that good.
Fuck this game. I decided to "try it out for a little bit" and an hour and a half went by without me even noticing.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to beat it the second time through in under 6 hours easy.
Well what is the point of that?
So I finally got to a part where I punched a woman and the game won me over.
Go Bioware.
After playing this like crazy, then becoming burnt out, then watching a friend play his copy which re-motivated me; I just finished it tonight. It seemed as if BioWare knew exactly what turned me off about the SW:KOTR titles and fixed it(while including real time action, which helped immensely). A plot that was as linear as I decided to make it(read: I spent a little under 40 hours), with a solid pace and well done narritve definitely kept me invovled.
I know I'll never go through it again, as doing so just to play on a harder difficulty(went through it on Normal) or to experience some optional side-quests isn't going to do it for me, but I'll be damned if I didn't enjoy myself every step of the way through this title. Color me impressed, and lock me in on a day 1 purchase of the sequel.
Just finished it for the first time. 12 hours! D'oh! I thought I'd have way more time to go exploring.
Started a new game with my stats from the last. Its awesome! Makes the game even more fun I think. Hardcore with stats from my first playthrough is retard easy like you guys all said. Still really fun though.
I quit after getting through the 3 main missions in under 4 hours on Hardcore because it was too easy.
Started a new game on hardcore with old stats.
First playthrough was good. This time im being an asshole.
I just knocked out that assistant on Eden Prime. This is going to be fun. :D
Yo JB, hop on AIM.
I got off Citadel finally and did the first mission. Definitely like this game. Combat is retard easy though, not that I'm complaining.
The loading and framerate drops are driving me nuts on my second playthrough. This shit alone is enough to take it out of goty.
While I love Bioware to death, they never were the paragons of efficient coding. I don't think any of Bioware's recent console offerings had stable framerates. I thing Jade Empire was their most stable, and even it had significant dips.

It's called "Mass Effect" and it allows its players - universally male no doubt - to engage in the most realistic sex acts ever conceived. One can custom design the shape, form, bodies, race, hair style, breast size of the images they wish to "engage" and then watch in crystal clear, LCD, 54 inch screen, HD clarity as the video game "persons" hump in every form, format, multiple, gender-oriented possibility they can think of.
The objections to such filth should be simple to understand.
Yeah, I posrted that in another thread.
omg old news :(
Diablo 2> this game.
Edit: Mass effect > Diablo 2 by a few inches.
I know it was a shitty post but I can't stop fucking playing diablo II. The barbarian is just so much more fun than the warrior in 1. So is the sorceress. Regenerating mana and way upped potion drops for the win.
Diablo 2 is one of those games, that really pulls on what mood you're in. Sometimes, you're just in the mood for Diablo 2. I've had that urge but resisted it because I know I'll stop playing, my character will be deleted, and I'll be pissed.
I guess you could play singleplayer if you want to hold on to your character. I guess.
Dear god no.
