Edit again: cut the scene with the QB drinking beer at the docks with his girl. I needed to make room for some explosions and possibly an adorable "pet" robot that one of the players gives to his kid (like Rocky IV or something).
Edit again: Ok, I've got the explosion worked out: Right before the "team wins a lot of games" montage, there will be a scene showing their very first win. They will be down by 2 points with time running out. The kicker will come on for a 60 yard field goal to win it. When he kicks the ball, it will soar through the uprights up to the top of the stadium and smash into the score board, causing a massive CGI explosion that takes up at least 2/5ths of the movie's entire budget to render. The team will all swarm out onto the field jumping up and down cheering as sparks rain down. Fade into "team wins a lot of games" montage with rockin' guitar music.
