Prince of Persia Revelations
Most of you won't care about this game since it's just an alteration of WW and this version will do nothing to change your feelings. Been out for a couple days now and I picked it up yesterday (and buyer beware: it's $50 at some places and $40 at others, so shop around).
Supposedly there's been some changes with the battle system and level design though I haven't seen any yet, but I'm still at the beginning of the castle. So far it's pretty much a spot-on perfect port except for a couple issues:- The textures are definately crappier, but this is generally only apparent in cutscenes (and the rare large monsters as seen below)
- I have yet to encounter a single in-game cutscene where the sound syncs up
- The sound levels seem to vary based on the task and item... in fact, whoever implemented the sound in this port either only had two days to do it or has never worked on a game before
- For reasons completely unknown to me they chose to make down on the d-pad Recall and Slow instead of using the left trigger like the Xbox games did. That trigger is now held down for camera control, a completely useless waste of that button since you can't move while doing that anyway. They should've just made down a toggle and left the easily accessible button for something that needs to be easily accessible.
Outside of that (and the controller alteration isn't that big a deal, I'm just bitching because it didn't need to be done that way in the first place) it's been pretty cool so far. The fighting and landscape running is all spot-on and the graphics are damned nice. This bodes very well for those of you waiting to see how DMC on PSP turns out.
Since the levels are pretty dark (I only just entered the fortress of the current timeline) it does make for a small amount of occasional confusion where determining where to go next because of the small screen though it's yet to be anything that's hindered me for more then a couple seconds.
So yeah, sweet game so far.
