It is, it gets better as you go along through the game. Some of the town and level design is quite gorgeous, and there is a huge variety. I was, however, disappointed that some towns with many roaming characters suffer from extreme slowdown/frame-dropping sometimes, making the game choppy to play at those times. That's inexcusable for an X360 game (but maybe they fixed this for the US release?).

It's a fun game (nothing spectacular), but it's very traditional JRPG. Like Dragon Quest. If you like that stuff, you'll probably like this.

Why is Microsoft still trying in Japan? I mean, do they even have anything else to appeal to the Japanese consumer other than this thing?

Lost Odyssey is coming later in the year. Don't ask me for more examples (there's some 3rd party stuff like Eternal Sonata and Idolm@ster though).

But yeah, X360s still sell only about 2500 a week there. That's a joke even compared to the PS3.

Actually, you win some really good prizes if you find "nothing" enough times.

So basically you just run along humping walls, and hope to find nothing, because the regular items and gold you get suck.

I love Jrpgs.

But even I found Blue Dragon to be very meh. It needed something. The story was lacking, and the battle system was exactly the same as every other game before it. It was just too cookie cutter.

I love me some JRPGs, and what I've played of Blue Dragon has made me have no interest whatsoever in purchasing it.

Compass, I don't remember disagreeing with you so much, but lately I can hardly think of times you've said things that have any merit to them.
