Oh, the irony of this post.

That was kinda the point...
Not that I didn't mean every word.
Yeah, I realized it was intentional after I hit the post button, but I just said "fuck it."
level 16 and climbing ...this game is great
I'm only level 24 but everyone has leveled White Mage, Black Mage, Monk, Sword Master, Assassin and Generalist high enough to get all the abilities from each class. Also my two magic users are over level 80 in Black Mage and my three fighters are over level 80 in Monk.
I just started the second disk and I can dish out like 1,000 damage with every attack. It's awesome.
I know I'm late to the party in this thread, but this game is three fucking discs? Why aren't we past this multiple disc crap yet? :(
Because Wii are stuck in 1999
Totally. They should've gone all the way and released it in one of those double-CD jewel-cases.
I'm almost done with disk 2 and this game is getting really good.
It's hard to describe why the style and pacing is good since that's really something you need to experience yourself, but somewhere between 1,000 robots killing themselves to break your shield, chasing a giant robot made of smaller robots and then ending up in town surrounded by a barrier that keeps the town in spring even though it's in the middle of the arctic you realize that for a classic JRPG, a lot of thought and care went into this game.
One thing that pisses me off is the stupid button mash achievements.
They're fucking impossible and no one would ever get them if they didn't know to try over and over again.
I have not started this game yet.
Someone please give me a reason to.
Did you pay money for it? There ya go.
Yeah, it annoys me that I already missed the door achievement in the very beginning of the game. I guess I'll go back for that one with New Game+.
Don't ban him, he just wanted some help.

Brilliant work. A+!
So for people who have been playing it,
whats been the biggest difference in the game that teh demo didnt show, i wanted blue dragon but the demo left a bad taste in my mouth, does it really GET any better or more then the demo?
No.
What exactly are you expecting? It's been well established that BD is a traditional (read: cookie-cutter) JRPG - no more, no less. If you liked Dragon Quest 8 or other JRPGs of that ilk, then you'll enjoy BD. If you're expecting the next generation of modern RPGs, then this is not the game for you.
is this an MS published game?
Jesus Christ, how did I miss that?
http://www.the-nextlevel.com/board/a...1&d=1189042091
i see that it is. is it a worthy game at $25?
No. You're supposed to toggle caps you faggot.
Shift is for special characters.
dyne's lack of capitalization is not an oversight; he's deliberately leaving his text exclusively in lowercase to subliminally appeal to generation x slackers. like the pithy little snippets on the back of bottles of vitamin water.
I'll personally attack Bbobb's ass all I want thank you very much PenisMaster Dyne! Blast from the past
I'm watching the new volume of Yu-Yu while my guys stand in Lazer Field and level up their classes with a Field Barrier 3.
It's a good morning. Too bad I have to go to work.
So, I rented this. I like it.
I don't know why I am still playing this. I'm a little ways through Disc 2. It's completely by the numbers. I may never play another JRPG again because there is just no point.
Japan is retarded and I think there are only two studios that know how to make games anymore. The rest just have no creativity whatsoever. MS should pay these guys zero dollars and pay real Western devs money to make great games.
You're right though. It's cookie cutter.
If a cookie cutter cut out an awesome fucking cookie, would you bitch because it wasn't a brownie?
You all knew what this was when you got into it. It's great at what it does, but it's not going to be KotOR because that's a different recipe entirely.
Right. I like what I'm playing, but probably because I was expecting it.
Just finished up Mural Town (which was original, you must admit), and I'm liking this game more and more.
I just started trying to give every character all the useful entry-level-ish skills in each Shadow: Regenerate MP/HP, Absorb HP, Skill +2, Increased Counter Attack, etc. And I didn't even know you could switch which character you control in the field 'till I picked up the controller on the Pause screen and accidentally hit the Right Button. Kluke from here on out!

Ack! Naturally, I've been playing in chan. But I did not know that my beloved Tara Strong, voice of countless cartoon and videogame characters, including one of the cutest RPG thieves of all time, Norma Beatty, does the English VO for Kluke. Now, what to do, what to do....
Switch to English? Blast it, I can't lay myself bare to the Saturday morning cartoon fare that has no doubt been applied with a thick sloppy paint brush to the cast at large.
Stay in Japanese? Nay, surely every Kluke scene from here on out will be tainted with my own conflicted regret....
Stop playing entirely? Eureka!
Nah, just kidding. Guess maybe I'll just switch back and forth here and there if there's a scene with lots of Kluke lines.
Can you switch?
I've maxed out every class for every shadow and I took down the King Poo. Now I just have to mow through the Gold Robot guy and then it's off to finish the game. I'll have that all done on Wed in time for skate if I'm lucky.
Also, I can't get the all item achievement because I didn't steal one fucking earing from one dragon. I hate that shit. There's a few dozen items you can get from one place and you only have one shot at them and then you're fucked.
Who cares?
I just used it to replace we.
What?
Also I was referencing the Wii being outdated hardware
So, Blue Dragon is three discs long on the 360 and the Wii is the blunt of the joke because it's basically a supped-up Gamecube? Again, that makes no sense. If you're going to be like the majority of TNL and have a love/hate/in the closet relationship with everything that comes out, at least do it in context. Just saying.
lol I was making fun of the entire generation v.v
I took it as a crack on the generation as well.
What's sad is, I feel like FFX had more going on than Blue Dragon and they fit that all on one disk. I mean it had more detail on the FMVs and about ten times as many, not to mention more areas to explore and more characters to interact with.
I'm for sure not saying that Blue Dragon is bad, I just don't get what makes it so big that it spans three disks.
The twist at the end wasn't fleshed out enough.
They needed to develop Zola more for it to work.
The storyline was entirely not fleshed out that well.
The last boss was pretty WTF. Completely random.
Isn't that the case with at least 50% of JRPG's?
Yeah, really.
Every single Final Fantasy ever says whats up.
FFIX's end boss was out of left field. And Zeromus was quite a bit too.
But FFI, FFVI, FFVII, FFX all had end bosses that made perfect sense. (never finished VIII so I have no idea on that one, and I don't remember II, III and V).
VIII's made sense, only that you don't actually meet the boss until the end. But you know who it is and they work against you for the entire game.
Wasn't the final, final boss a summon in VIII?
Well...Zellers has this on sale this weekend for $39 CND so I'm going to snag one up along with a Elite 360...
I just got the Mechcat, and now it's time to level up! I'm seriously liking this game, as it's a solid adventure with some cool towns and bosses. The Corporeal specials are fucking awesome too. I've had a ball with BD, but I do agree that most of the achievements are ass.
How do some of you finish these games so fast? Opaque, did you just play only this game every day after work for several hours, and then all day on the weekends in order to get through it? I get antsy too quickly, and can't usually do that. I'm still not even done with the first disc, and already I see myself taking a long break soon in favor of Eternal Sonata or something.
Also, those of you who finished, what was your final time?
FFV's end boss was a tree iirc.
I had like 100 hours logged because I'd leave my guys leveling overnight.
I really only played like 40 hour myself.
New Game + available for free in the marketplace.
Hah! That's pretty cool.
I'd do a New Game+ at some point, because I could run through what I don't want to mess with using a Field Barrier and go through to get the shit I need to flesh out my achievements.
Next year, imo.
Why isn't this on Expertzone yet?
Fucking whoreslut piece of shit permamiss bullshit.
I dared to finish the second disc without killing every monster in Nene's Fortress while under the time limit, so now I'm forever screwed out of getting the Completed Monster Record achievement. I have way too many games to get through to do New Game+. Fuck this particular brand of shit.
Hey, I like this! It's basically FFV HD Remix. This is generally a good thing.
The problem is I can't commit to a difficulty; I've been juggling a Normal and Hard save file. Normal has been absurdly easy. Hard has had its tough moments, but most of its battles have been made longer without necessarily being made more difficult. Those sword and shield-carrying dragons just after the first village do 3HP damage per attack on Hard, but take about five complete rounds of attacks to kill.
Does Normal eventually get more difficult, or can I expect to kill everything in one or two hits for the entire game?
INSIDER INFO
(6:59:23 PM) i kinda overleveled the shit out of my characters
(6:59:28 PM) so just kinda coasted through the rest of the game
(6:59:39 PM) but its not hard to overlevel..
(6:59:55 PM) and bosses get a little bit tougher but not by much
(7:00:03 PM) it's still pretty much a cakewalk
I'm on the second disc and 20 hours deep. It feels like I have dumped 50 hours into so far but sadly I haven't. I didn't really like the job system at first but now that I have additional skill slots it makes it easier to use.
Just picked it up - brother had it and sold before I finished. Think I'll just start from scratch, maybe get the girl to play (she loved Dragon Quest 8)
Pretty late to the party here but I've played the demo of this game and while it had blah character designs and fairly annoying screen tearing, the battles weren't too bad.
However I just watched a few episodes of the anime and within the context of that I really liked it so should I just stick to the anime or are the game and anime sort of complementary towards each other?
I believe the anime is based on the manga, which only had a loose connection to the game. The game is okay. I mostly enjoyed what I played, but lost interest before the end.
The game is cool, but it has the single worst achievement distribution I've ever seen. Horrible, horrible achievements that are more trouble than they're worth.
Hmm, that's a little disconcerting.
Amazon has it for $3.49 so I'm in a "eh why not for that price?" attitude.
I think at that price, it's worth playing the first few hours at least.
Yes, buy that.
This was my first 360 game. Fucking Maru... Is there a rule this gen that every JRPG must have a character with voice acting so terrible it pushes me that much farther from the genre? Same with Star Ocean 4, same with Devil Survivor...
Xenoblade showed every early indication of bucking that trend. It did not, though. It did not at all.
Someone didn't care for Reyn Time.
It was when the clock turned from Reyn Time to Riki Time that I started getting embarassed for myself.
