Exactly. As far as I'm concerned, there's a world of a difference between UT and Quake. And, believe it or not, UT, Quake, and Halo. It's just like any other genre; there are a few titles that have enough differences amongst themselves to be worth playing, and there are the games that are nearly worthless outside of them.
Halo has enough of the 'little differences' to stand out. Nothing is grenade-crazy like Halo. There's the "floaty" movement, which Tribes had a bit of, but the jetpack dueling was beyond awkward to the point of stupid. Melee (and its tracking) is a gigantic part of the game, much more than in CS, Q3/4, BF, UT, and anything else I can think of. I can completely understand why someone would prefer it over any other FPS.
A shitload of Quake 3. There hasn't been a deathmatch FPS I've enjoyed half as much as it. Lots of UT and UT2004 (mostly LAN). A bit of Day of Defeat, and plenty of hours of CS (1.6 more than Source). Tons of singleplayer FPSes, also. I'd be interested in BF2 if it worked on the campus connection, as I'm definitely not going to be getting any good LAN play with it around the dorms.
