I was there for DVDs on day one. I hated VHS. The difference between Blu/HD DVD and regular DVD isn't nearly as significant as VHS/VCD to DVD. DVD is plently good, and if it weren't we would just go to Superbit.

Couldn't MS have put the HD-DVD format in the 360 for games but not movies, and require some kind of a plug-in adaptor that will allow you play movies on it? By removing the movie functionality, it should lower the cost of having the HD-DVD drive in the system. But those who want to pay for it wouldn't have to buy a clunky attachment.

I bought DVD to get movies in widescreen, 5.1 digital sound, and better picture. I will get Hi-Def versions so they will be in hi-def, and chances are they will have more 6.1 and even 7.1 available with the extra room on the disc. Sounds like enough of an upgrade for me.

Being the MMO whore that I am, I can confirm that SWG, WoW, EQII, and GW all run in widescreen resolutions.

But the future of DVD wasn't assured at that point either. Divx had a lot of momentum at first, and a number of companies that pledged support only for it.

LMAO, this is getting re-god-damn-diculous.

Now all they need is an add-on that plays PS3 games and they'll be all set.

Just the idea of Microsoft offering an HD/DVD add-on is retarded.
