The tapes were a part of the settlement. Sirius paid CBS Radio $2 million for the exclusive rights to Howard Stern's old material until the end of Howard's contract with Sirius. It wasn't disclosed how much Howard and Don Buckwald (his agent) had to pay, but the Post reported (take with a grain of salt) $10 million.

The one thing that was never clear was if there was an article in the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal that stated Howard would receive Sirius stock if he met subscription milestones. If that article exists, then CBS Radio's claim that they didn't know about the stock payment had no merit because that part of the deal was public record (even if Howard never talked about it during his last year).

Nonetheless, even if Howard was 100% right, it would have cost him a lot more money if the lawsuit went to court, and the ability to get his tapes back made the incentive to settle much better.

Any one catch the Artie roast? Colin Quin was pretty funny and Dice was lame.... as always.

This is exaclty what I read. Since it was settled out of court you will never know the specifics since "not being able to talk about it legally" is part of any settlement to the best of my knowledge. The $2 million has nothing to do with the outcome of the settlement.

I'm no lawyer, so maybe Sleeveboy or Sundog can give us better details of how settlements work.

Yeah, I have no idea what SpoDaddy is talking about. Other than the tapes, none of the details about how the lawsuit was settled have been made public.

Still, 2 million bucks sounds really, really cheap for a tape library of 20-something years of Stern's K-Rock show. Based on that alone it sounds like Howard probably came out ahead on the lawsuit.

Dice is totally washed up.

Lisa Lampinelli was okay.

Sal the Stockbroker was fucking awesome. Joke of the day: "Lisa Lampinelli has had more black hands on her snatch than the hood of a cop car." Sal is always great at roasts.

Shuli started out slow, but got decent at the end.

Missed Yucko, how was he?

Also, my friend just called me at work and bitched to me that Sal and Richard were smacking each other on the bare ass and trying to take each other's tempature anally. The show's gone up 1000 points on the gay-o-meter.

I just heard the entire roast replay this morning. Fantastic show. Sal killed. Colin was fantastic. I didn't like Crackhead Bob and Maryann from Brooklyn there, but thank god they were super quick. Best show yet, and I can't wait to catch it on Howard TV.

The show after the roast was INSANE!!!!!!! On top of Robin taking Sal and Richard's temperatures anally, tasting of said anal thermometers went on, lots of puking, and Richard gave Sal a urine-filled swirlie. Catch the whole replay if you can, because it was definitely over-the-top hilarity.

Caught the rest of the roast during lunch.

Nick Dapallo killed.

Maryann from Brooklyn sucked.

Crackhead Bob sucked even more.

Yucko the Clown killed.

Man, having George Takei on this week is just reminding me how much I'll miss him next week when he's gone again. :(

Howard: "You know, George, Artie once took a load on his chest at an orgy. Have you ever taken a load on your chest?"

George: "Oh, yes."

BTW, weird thing. My gf has XM and while driving to work this morning, suddenly XM cut out and she had Howard- on every XM channel. No matter what XM channel she switched to, she was getting Howard's Sirius show, clear as a bell. WTF.
