This week we got four full shows. Naturally next week is vacation.
Good news is no more Mastertape Theater tomorrow - now fridays will have best moments from the week. Much better imo.
That's even worse; reruns that aren't even a week old?
Multiple new best ofs are better than one older best of surrounded by 4 hours of useless old ass show.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. People hated Mastertape Theater, and when they try something new people hate on them for trying that. I personally love the best of the week idea. I can't catch the entire show every day, and I always end up missing a ton of good stuff, so this is a great chance to catch up on at least some of the stuff I miss.
I agree that it's a positive move. Some of the later MTTs (late 90s onward) were quite good, but I just couldn't hang with the older stuff. As Brand X said, this will be a great way to catch up on highlights throught the week. I can't complain about that.
Mammary Lane is my preference. Stern not taking half the year off would be nice too.
So they are bringing the Friday Show back? I liked that best. Or is there no live host this time?
They should just do a six-hour wrap-up show on friday. Lately the wrap-up show has been better than the real show. Lots more fighting and JD.
I'd rather listen to that than fucking Mastertape Theater.
Is this the new format for Fridays going forward? Is Mastertape Theater really gone for good (I fucking hope so)?
John Hein hosts it, but I think it's all taped, not live.
I like Mammary Lane too.
Agreed. It's getting insane lately. I mean, I'm starting to get annoyed that I pay to listen to a show with commercials and that's off 50% of the time.Quote:
Stern not taking half the year off would be nice too.
BTW, I loved Stern's explaination for why he didn't warn anyone that he was going to be off last week for his daughter's graduation- he thought no one would tune in if they knew Ralph was hosting the next day, so he didn't say anything about taking off so they would.
Mastertape will be on fridays at 3 on 101, IIRC.
Awesome. I guess enough people bitched about it that Howard finally moved it.
That is probably exactly what happened.
I've always wondered what really drove Stern: money or ratings? Money is the obvious knee-jerk answer, but I think you can make a strong case for either.
In other words, once the merger goes through and people have a viable alternative listening option in Opie & Anthony, will this act as some sort of motivation to increase Stern's work ethic? Will the thought of losing portions of his Sirius audience to a rival show, even under the same corporate umbrella, stir him to action?
Or does he truly not give a shit anymore?
Ratings were what drove Howard in the past, but I'm not so sure it would compel him to work five days or take off less weeks if O&A were to compete with him in a post-merger scenario.
Howard is getting tired of waking up at 4:00 am each day, and if Howard were to come back after his deal ends, it will probably be some sort of afternoon show. Howard doesn't seem to have anything left to prove. He gets paid an obscene amount of money, he gets to do the show he wants without censorship, and he doesn't have to work as many days as he did in the past.
That, and there are no ratings in satellite radio.
Arbitron releases satrad ratings... They're flawed beyond belief and have less bearing on advertising, but they exist.
But I meant it as more of a pride issue. He has always said that bothers him immensely that people could be listening to anything other than him. I think it stands to reason that the idea of people listening to a rival NY morning show on Sirius-XM could drive him to action.
More likely, though, is the afternoon option. And I wouldn't mind that so much, given that replays make the time of initial broadcast moot. My problem is that the excessive vacation and short week weaken the importance of the show. The more the show isn't on, the more people realize that other options exist, and the more likely they don't come back.
So what do I care? Well, I'm one of those who wouldn't mind another option if this bullshit continues. Howard might be content with his FIVE HUNDRED MILLION GRAAAAAAAND, but I still need to be entertained, damn it.
"Dracula Godfree meets the WackPack" is next week shows. Sounds like Gilbert will be hosting a few shows as his Dracula character and will be playing segments of how the members of the WackPack appeared on the show.
Cool thing they're doing this week while Stern is off- Gilbert Gottfried (doing his Dracula voice) is hosting a series where they play the first appearances of all the different Wack Packers. So far I've heard Wendy the Retard, Crackhead Bob, Daniel Carver, Yucko The Clown, Fred the Elephant Boy, among others. Good stuff.
Yeah, I missed most of today (I'll catch a replay this weekend), but I woke up to the Evil Dave Letterman segment. Always good. I also heard a little Daniel Carver at lunch.
I hope they don't neglect to give us a good dose of Elegant Elliot Offen this week. He hasn't been on in forever, but he's easily one of my favorites. RIIIIGHT?
Hearing High Pitch Eric for his first time on the show was great. Howard kept asking him if that was his real voice or not.
Carver gets old quickly, n-bombs all over the place.
It's like hanging out with Netwurked. I get enough of that already.
Well, sometimes he branches out towards the homosexuals and Mexicans.
I know, but Netwurked mostly hates on the black people.
I had never heard Dr. Remulak before. I was laughing my ass off on that one. Evil Dave was great and Daniel Carver was... uh.. racist.
I am Dr. Remulak. I am Dr. Remulak. I am Dr. Remulak. I am Dr. Remulak. I am Dr. Remulak. I am Dr. Remulak.
All I heard this morning was Riley Martin. Kinda mediocre as his best stuff is when he gets mad.

I should be getting into my car for the replay of segment 6 & 7. Nice!
I heard the "Beetlejuice hates Gilbert" segment. That was a classic.
"Goo for me? That's no goo for me!"
I don't mind Stern being on vacation since these specials are so fucking awesome. I haven't heard 80% of the stuff being played, and even the stuff I have heard is so hilarious that I don't mind listening again.
I don't mind Stern being on vacation when he has stuff like Mammary Lane or Dracula Gottfried Meets the Wack Pack on. However, I hate it when he has shit like Mastertape Theater or The History of Howard Stern playing instead.
The History of Howard Stern is still the worst thing I've ever heard since he moved to Sirius.
Just checked MarksFriggin, and it looks like Hank and Riley are the highlights today.
Tomorrow, we'd better see The Elegant One. If not, I will feel as if I have been defiled, dehumanized, and degraded. EXCUSE ME! DEFILED, DEHUMANIZED, AND DEGRADED! RIIIIIGHT?
That is so fucking awesome.
How can you like Elliot Offen? I would be happy if they never played him ever again.
Today's line up. I heard Jeff the Drunk and Cleft Palate and the Jeff the Drunk one was hilarious. This day seems to be the best by far but I didn't hear any of Monday's show.

SEGMENT 7 of 7
HOLLYWEIRD SQUARES with The Wack Pack 2/23/1999
I heard the Blue Iris this morning on my way to work. So fucking hilarious.
Isn't it Howie Wierd Squares?
I doubt it. There's tons of Wack Packers to get to. He'll probably be in a future special.
After all, Howard's pissed at Studdering John and they just did a Stern Spotlight on him last break.
"Show us your boobs."
"NO!"
"Show us your boobs."
"NO!"
"Show us your boobs."
"Oh, okay."
KC was hilarious in that segment. "Come on, grandma! Is your diaper too tight?"
The Eric one is great.
10 seconds into Eric's first call:
Howard: There's something wrong with you. What's wrong with you?
Eric: I'm a disabled person. I'm only 3'5", 3'6".
Howard: We've got to get you down here.
I am annoyed that I missed so many of these. I think I will have to torrent this week.
I loved the first John the Stutterer appearance. Right out of the gate he started reciting his five psychotropic medications.
I just heard today that Stern's on vacation first two weeks of July. I mean, wtf. It seems like he's off more now than he's on.
I heard this while John Hein was announcing the programming they'll have during those two weeks. Week one will be The History of Howard Stern part 2 (whoo-pee). Week two will be the best of the various game shows Sterns done on the air over the years (could be good).
I thought he was taking the last week in June off. So is that 3 weeks or just the two?
Who knows. Probably all 3.
I heard he's taking the last week of June off and the first two weeks of July, with the last week of June being a replay of History of Howard Stern Part 1 and then the next week the premiere of part 2. Has anyone else noticed that for the past couple months Howard's been rushing through the show after 8 and killing stuff that could be really funny because it might mean he won't get to leave early? Between the 4 day work week, the endless weeks of vacation, and now the shrinking of the show itself I'm contemplating giving up on it and finding a new morning show. It's just getting unbearable to see Stern turn into everything the show used to hate (millionaire celebrities whining about their grueling dream jobs on the way to the Hamptons). Kissing Rosie's ass the other day might have been the last straw.
Yeah, he caught a lot of flack for that Rosie interview. It didn't bother me, however.
What does bother me is taking a week off for Memorial Day, than 3 weeks off a month later. I'm sure he'll squeeze in some time off during August as well.
But didn't you hear on the wrapup show the other day? Howard works really hard because he gets on lotus notes to monitor what everyone is doing!
So three consecutive weeks off? Holy shit.
It really bothers me to say this, but I might have to look for a new morning show as well. Like a wife that gets knocked around for not having dinner ready on time, I'm sure I'll stick around "just a little longer." But if this shit keeps up post-merger, I might just have to seek entertainment elsewhere.
wtf, why are they replaying yesterday's show today? Mastertape Theater is better than this!
It's best of the week. Not yesterdays show.
I can't believe you gys actually pay to be shit on. I learned my lesson early on. Its silly not to download the show at this point.
Am I the only one who is getting seriously annoyed with those fucking Ashely Madison commercials? I mean, I'm not a prude or anything, and consenting adults should be free to do as they please. But still... something about them just rubs me the wrong fucking way.
First they encourage you to cheat... then they encourage you to visit their cheating site at work... and now I heard a new one this morning in when they talked up how wonderful cheating can be for your marriage and your kids.
Maybe I'm just being a sandy vag, but it's getting to the point that I change the fucking channel whenever one comes on.
It's a little too in-your-face, that's for sure. They rub me the wrong way too, you're not alone.
I like when Howard refers to them straight-up as a "Web site where you can cheat on your wife." lol
They're all over Opie and Anthony as well. I don't care about what they're selling, I just find the commercials themselves really shitty and obnoxious.
So glad I'm not alone here.
I wonder if it crosses anyone's mind that, as an online business, eventually a credit card will become necessary to get in on the adultery. And given the fact that even upstanding, respected companies have a hard time hanging onto their customer credit card databases these days, it's only a matter of time until some sort of Ashley Madison customer list becomes public knowledge.
That would be so fucking sweet.
The Vern Troyer interview today was great.
And yeah, Ashley Madison is kinda sleezy, even for a Stern advertiser.
Belzer returns! And he was great.
Also, LOL at Cindy Margolis almost picking Double A in the dating game.
Double A had be rolling during the Cindy Margolis Dating Game. He's such a piece of shit.
The biggest LOL for me was when Cindy was mentioned that she wore lingerie during sex with holes that exposed her boobs and vag and Artie mentioned that when he used to work outside he wore long johns with a flap in the back so he could shit.
BTW, Cindy holding up great for a 42 year old. Well, half of her is, anyway. Her bod's smoking hot, but that face is starting to hit the wall, and hard. She probably only has a few good years left, and it's not even like 42 is THAT old. Still, her sex stories…woah. Older women are fucking horny.
http://www.howardstern.com/dtcms/tsimg/04_69662.jpg
And is it me, but is Double A starting to look like Artie's little brother?
http://www.howardstern.com/dtcms/tsimg/11_52735.jpg
You're right-on about her face. That wall really snuck up on her.
All I heard today was the very beginning (talking about Carlin's death), but the game sounds like it was pretty funny. I'll have to catch the repeat.
Best part of the show was the deli meat guy.
Was it? I missed that.
Artie and Robin were on a roll. The guy was so excited to be there he was all over the place. Artie gave him a hard time about the meat, and then Robin started arguing crab cakes with the guy. So Artie started complaining she was stealing his schtick. Then the deli guy called out one of the dating game contestants for being a fag. Artie was still doing his impression of the guy late into the show in the background.
Heard the Anal Ring Toss segment today, pretty funny as Richard gets to go to Howard's wedding now. It has been a solid week for the show so far.
That guy was outrageous. You could tell he was a nut job when he called in last week during the subway meat argument, but he was even more insane when he actually got on the show. It was almost cringe worthy listening to the guy ramble on and on.
The actual anal ring toss today wasn't that good. It lasted literally 30 seconds. But the parts leading up to it with the lactating into Sal's coffee, and after with Richard still wanting to sniff Sal's ass even though he didn't need to were hilarious. I definitely agree with the show has been on a roll sentiment, it really has. I've been listening every morning over O&A when I haven't really been doing that in a month or 2. Thankfully my commute is only going to be 10 min starting next week since they will be on a 14 week break. That way I won't feel so bad about missing great shows until they come back.
I didn't think it was even physically possible to shoot milk out of your tits if you haven't been pregnant. She was probably lying.
And yes, excellent week so far.
so i took the woman to the Killers of Comedy tour here in dallas last week. fucking awesome!
shuli - meh, his material was mainly about people on the show. he had a couple of good laughs about an asian girlfriend, but it was mostly just a chuckle here and there. he also did the announcements between sets
colin quinn- gained a bunch of weight since snl. he was hilarious though, he just puts a twist on common everyday things that make you bust out laughing. had some really good political jokes. the womans fave of the night
bob levy - "fuck gary" was the first thing out of the crowds mouth, lol. omg this guy had me in tears. his material was so raunchy and he was on point 100% of the time. so much so, that my woman thought he was a sicko, lol. no blue cheese, but lots of gestures and anal comments. the best part was his audience interaction, he picked out several people and just fucking reamed them. to me best act of the night, but then again im a sicko too dont tell the wife
artie - had the longest set of course since he was the headliner. lots of inside howard references and used a bunch of material from the show. i was crying to when he did his mike tyson and iron sheik impersonations. the audience fucked him up left and right, he kept telling sob stories about dana and getting stuffed in the trunk of a lincoln continental and when he least expected it "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH" . some fat chick gave him a card to a strip club and as soon as she turned around he tossed it on stage, eveyone busted out laughing and she turned around again he winked at her. some other dude gave him a joint and he was freaking out about a FDA setup. he kept making fun of the dallas cowboys and used a texas accent, lol. i love artie
didnt get any pics because they wouldnt let me bring the camera inside, which was bullshit because other people had them.
we had pretty much front row seats, they started throwing out shit into the audience. they tossed a sirius frisbee and hit hit the guy in the head right behind me then fell in my hands, haha.
front row section allowed us to get to the stage after the show. artie was randomly signing autographs, it was like a mosh pit of people holding shit up hoping he would take it. should have brought my its the whiskey talking dvd, hindsights a bitch
anyways, my wife said "watch, ill get him to sign a ticket". she is really short and was getting crushed in the pit, and artie passed her up.... but then he did a doubletake, and reached into the crowd to grab her ticket to sign it (guess he has a thing for hot asians  ). all the other groupie chicks around here were like "you bitch" and "lucky hooker" bwahaha
awesome show, awesome night, my wife loved it, and i got some when we got back home. couldnt ask for anything more
fuck you fat artie!
I'm just upset that Artie is no longer LORD OF THE ANAL RINGS.
http://www.howardstern.com/dtcms/tsimg/16_94780.jpg
And Artie calls in sick yet again, this time just one day before the big summer vacation!
Give me a break.
He's just a mess. That's all you can say.
He was probably just bummed about losing his Anal Ringtoss title.
Are they seriously taking a 14 week vacation?
14 weeks? It's like 2 or 3 weeks. wtf.
Brand needs to stop exaggerating.
I love Gilbert
In K3V's defense, Stern takes so much time off that I wouldn't be suprised if he did take 14 weeks at some point.
Yeah, neither would I. :\
DNG, that's awesome. I almost decided to go to that show, but never got around to looking up tickets. I'm definitely gonna be at their next Dallas show, though.
Did someone say Gilbert?
I'm listening now. I've heard those same two phony phone calls a hundred times and they still crack me up.
"Sure I trust you, I fucked your mom last night."
"Holy Mackerel!"
Is Stern off next week? I heard an ad on Best of the Week today saying Monday they're running a "Best of Howard on Sirius" show.
If he's indeed off yet again, this is nuts.
Wouldn't be surprised. They better come back with Sulu if this is the case.
Nuts? Yes.
Then again, would it be such a terrible thing? Not to knock the show too much (it is good enough, after all, that I pay for it), but the special programming during the last couple vacations (Best of Wack Pack and Best of Game Shows) have been some of the best radio I've ever heard. If the substitute programming continues to be at such an impressive level, I'm not going to complain, ridiculous vacation schedule or not.
Vacation this week, "Sirius So Far" is what we get instead. Fuck this, no money from me.
I did enjoy listening to the Artie roast again yesterday. Nick Di Paolo and Sal were fucking brutal.
I'm hoping to hear the classic Arnold/George Takei prank call and the Artie/Crazy Alice 45 minute argument.
I want Artie vs Iron Sheik again pls.
looks we get artie vs. heroin instead
