I totally agree. I'm a perfect example. I simply do not have the self control to have not bought a 360 before Christmas had I seen one sitting on a shelf. However, I didn't, and now my eyes have shifted to the PS3 and any forth-coming announcements. I can't be the only person in this situation, and I have the means to buy both. Someone who has to choose may now be lost to MS all-together.

Sure. They can do 1-200 000 a month easy if they get them on shelves, which should have them at 2 million by October. (I'd even say that's a conservative estimate). 3 million over Christmas with a price drop, good looking software and no PS3s anywhere is doable. PSP moved nearly that many in 9 months, and the demand isn't as high for that, IMO. Doesn't matter if the games don't rock the world, Microsoft unlimited marketing budget FTW.

They have sold 600,000 so far. 200,000 per month for February through October puts them at 2.4M. 2.4 != 5-6. There is zero chance Sony is going to be in a hole bigger than 3M. They'll erase at least half of that by year-end and the rest in 2007 easily.
