Well, that answers that question. A small Californian company is buying up reprint rights to high-value Ebay titles and raking it in. Good for them!

The chances of WD stuff getting a reprint has me excited, and this is an all-around cool thing for them to do.
Everyone. Sell your shit now.Quote:
Game Quest Direct said that they would try to reprint any game that goes on eBay for over $100.
If it's not too much trouble, could someone write out a list of all the recent reprints? I just picked up a copy of Persona 2 thanks to finding out about the reprint.
You could... I don't know... read the story that was linked to in the first post.

The NGPC stuff is iffy, since it's all loose and there's still Japanese on the labels. What the hell is Ward of Lights?
Will they press GD-roms though? I always wanted Space Channel 5 part 2. Ikaruga will also make me shell out.
edit: I think this is a great idea btw, although it will be a slap in the face to all videogame collectors. They will reprint every game that goes for over 100$ on ebay, which makes you wonder if they will take up old games like Panzer Dragoon Saga etc.
I suppose to the collectors that only view their games in terms of rarity, but those guys deserve a good (cock)slap to the face. Heaven forbid collectors actually be faced with keeping/buying a game because they really like it, rather than doing so because it's a status symbol.Quote:

This reprinting bussiness is a great idea. I don't very much care for the collectors. I'd rather that more ppl get to experience "rare" games at a more reasonable price.
That's what it boils down to. If I get to play Rez, and I don't pay out the ass for it, then the collectors can enjoy a stiff dick in their mouth.
This company is awesome for doing this. However, they could appease everyone by changing the packaging design a bit for the reprints. AKA Greatest Hits
the price is still a reprint-price, its not a budget release as such. People don't want no stupid 'greatest hits' cover.Quote:

What makes you say that? Some saturn games go for heavily inflated prices and the media is a simple cd-rom. I would print them.Quote:

If you are collecting games then you have no reason to sell them, so the price doesnt matter. Anyone who buys games to profit is retarded, and anybody who thinks theyre a collector because they have Rez and Radiant Silvergun is even more retarded.Quote:

This is good news. I'm checking out their site now.
And a big LOL to all the collectors who are pissed at these guys. Owned.
*EDIT* Shit, this site could make me broke...
the great "collectors crash of 2006" has begun.Quote:

Awesome idea, BWT. I hope it succeeds.
How they categorize games is a little weird...Nightmare Creatures is an RPG? Hot Shots Golf is an adventure game? Soul Reaver is a fighting game? Road Rash is a shooter?
I don't understand this part. Why not price it $5 above used until it's out-of-stock again?Quote:
However since Gamestop sells used copies of these games at a higher price they’ve taken the liberty of unsealing and selling the brand new game as a used copy.
Has anyone actually ordered from this site yet? I hit google and found a bunch of people stating that they're kind of sketchy, but then again you're pretty much bound to find people bitching about any site if you look hard enough. If anyone here can vouch for the site, I'll order Rez in a second.
Their Bizrate Report: http://www.bizrate.com/ratings_guide...id--68464.html
Mind you that some people use Bizrate to bitch about issues completely out of the merchant's control- such as courrier companies.
I got Gradius V from them. UPS seemed to take longer than usual to get it here, so maybe they took a bit to actually ship it, but it did arrive.Quote:

there was a big stink about this at Cheap Ass Gamer and how the people that run GQD lied about how they got their hands on new copies of these games. supposedly they found a giant stockpile hidden somewhere just by chance. they claimed the games were brand new and shrinkwrapped (which was true), and also original printings (which they weren't because there were no security stickers on top - boo fucking hoo).
i don't know what the problem was other than it wasn't an original print because i ordered Persona 2 from them and it came as advertised, brand new and still in the shrink. and you get both the game and bonus discs (even though the packaging labels it as only having 1). i've only ordered from them that one time and had no problems, but had i known that GS and ebay were going to get flooded with tons of copies a week later at lower prices, i would've done it that way.
I consider myself a collector and still think this is awesome. Maybe more companies will start to do this and rarez0rz games will be a thing of the past.
They should distinguish reprints from originals and you would think the original publisher, say Capcom for example, would demand this in case of consumer complaints, lawsuits, defective merchandise, etc...
Otherwise, a decent idea.
Who would buy Silvergun to collect it? You have to play that shit if you got it, son. And I got it good. :DQuote:

In a serious note, they should reprint Valkyrie Profile.
Silvergun is a brilliant game. I want it and have wanted it but I can't shell out the money now or ever. A reprint would be wonderful so more people can enjoy the game.Quote:

I should probably bank on getting rid of of my copy of Valk Profile w/guide soon.
Considering Square reprinted Cronicles, Anthology, Xenogears and Vagarant Story themself reciently, it surprises me that they don't reprint Valk Profile and Dragon Warrior VII.
You could just go buy Space Channel 5: Special Edition for the PS2. It contains both the original and followup game.Quote:

Simple, Game Quest Direct is selling them directly to Gamestop. A representative spokesperson has said that they decided to unload a sizeable amount of inventory to Gamestop at a bulk price. However since Gamestop sells used copies of these games at a higher price they’ve taken the liberty of unsealing and selling the brand new game as a used copy.
No kidding. Would doing a simple price adjustment (done to many titles just about every day of the week) have killed them?
The real reason- used games are what they want to sell. If the EB/Gamestop corporate blob could get away with being used games only, they would.
James
I would if I had a ps2. My cheapness kept me from ever getting one and since the 'new pricedrop' never realized in Europe I probably won't.Quote:

However I must share some of your comments. Selling REZ reprint for $49 and saying you save $40 on the retail price is a bit overboard. Re-printing games is one thing, making large margins (if this is the case) because of the actual market, I do not agree. I never collected game for their value but to play them, so I'm 100% for it. But all of this will only apply to CD games I guess, I doubt anyone will get anywhere near producing cartridge re-prints though :)
Producing cartridge costs more than CDs, so cartridge games you wont see..only bootlegs.

Very cool, and they even do titles like Rez and TG-16 Cosmic Fantasy? Awesome. A company whose sole purpose is to make money by detsroying ebay gougers! I like. A lot. Here's hoping they do some Saturn and more TG-16 titles.
Probably due to costs.Quote:

Still looking for Rez and Guitaroo Man.
I would be all for reprints of Valkyrie Profile, Radiant Silvergun, and Panzer Dragoon Saga. I also think a reprint of Castlevania: SotN should be in order.
It seems like a crapload of DS games are hitting rare status all at the same time, so I've started on a DS buying spree. Picked up Phoenix Wright and Trace Memory, hopefully will have Castlevania Monday, and now need to find a copy of Lost in Blue.
Yes. Yes, you do.Quote:

You know, I went to Best Buy to pick up Mario and Luigi: PiT and I noticed that there was no Animal Crossing DS, no Trace Memory, and no Lost in Blue. They had loads of Castlevania and BB never carried Phoenix Wright.Quote:

Games for DS I've heard have gone rare/discontinued/out of print recently:
Phoenix Wright
Trace Memory
Castlevania: DoS
Trauma Center
Pokemon Dash (might already have been)
Lost in Blue
I was thinking that there was one or two more, but maybe I'm wrong.
I haven't Pokemon Dash in my store in a long time. I have the rest of those personally, and I think I still have Trace Memory in the store. I'm surprised to see Castlevania hit the rare list now, seems a little too soon for it to me.
I don't think it is rare, I think it has come up as out of print/discontinued.
I need Lost in Blue, Castlevania DS (and it's way too early for that title to be getting scarce), and Phoenix Wright. It's surprisingly hard to keep up with the good stuff on DS, although if it could stay on the shelves past Christmas season it'd be a hell of a lot easier.
James
All these games are still findable (the DS ones anyway) if you're willing to put in the time. About two or three months from now, that's when they'll truly be "RARE" and the punters will have to pay out the ass for them on the interweb.
Both Castlevania and Lost In Blue are still super common around here. I had to go to five different stores to buy Phoenix Wright earlier this week, despite it being easy to find no more than a month ago. I imagine Castlevania will be easy to buy for quite a while, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lost In Blue disappears from the shelves soon...Quote:

Ok, it's settled. Now I just gotta pick a nice color..... where do I get a pink one? I think my EB only has blue and silver. We ran out of the limited red Mario Kart ones. Shame.
Pink has to be imported.
Damn... too much trouble for a joke. The blue looks pretty sexy may just go with that. Any other colors planned for the DS within the next few months? I don't mind waiting.
There are -- or were anyway, not sure if they're still around -- pink ones released in the US, as part of a holiday Nintendogs bundle.

Using google would involve me actualy pulling up another browser window and looking through a bunch of other sites. Why bother when I can just ask a simple question on the TNL boards and wait for the answer? Thank you Mr. McShig. Your help was much appreciated.
The time you wait for an answer, you could of found the answer yourself by searching. Its not like you have that ONE window only for TNL. You have other windows for other sites, or you use the same window to browse other sites.
Wah wah wah. God forbid someone ask a question about a gaming system on a gaming forum.
It made me laugh and that is all that is important.

I ordered from GameQuestDirect last Thursday, got my copy of Rez yesterday. It was shrinkwrapped, new, nothing out of the ordinary if you ordered from Amazon. They're not shitty and shady at all, order from them if you want these games.Quote:
