The Greater One Retires (Again)
Mario Lemieux, the greatest hockey player ever to lace up skates, will once again be forced into retirement by his health. While not missing time due to Hodgekin's Disease, back problems, or an irregular heartbeat, Mario Lemieux racked up 690 goals and 1,033 assists in 915 career games, while never playing on a team in the same talent level as the 1980s Oilers.
I only ever rooted for Lemieux when he played against the Rangers, but no one was a more fear-insighting opponent. Unlike that other guy who's known by a false hyperbole, Lemieux could play a physical game and knew his way around his own end of the rink.
