So, um, yeah
I don't know where to begin here, but I didn't want to post this in sound off because I'd rather have people see it here who have been around for a while.
Remember the thread way back when where I was dating a 20 year old girl? Well, we're still together and things are good.
Today, this happened: http://abclocal.go.com/kfsn/story?se...cal&id=3870053
This is her uncle. She lives here in NY, not too far from me, and she was very close with her fathers brother. Turns out that 3 black guys were scoping the house out and were convinced that this man had money in his house. They threatened him at gunpoint and then threatened to kill his kids if he didn't tell them where the money was. There was no money in the house. He offered them his ATM card, offered to go to any bank, anywhere, to get the money out of the bank for them and they just didn't believe him. He begged and pleaded for the lives of his family and in the end he made a run for it because his neighbor was a cop. He was rewarded with three rounds in the back and his family and pregnant wife no longer have a father.
Anyone wanna have that death penalty debate with me NOW? I'm fucking livid over this. Lazy ass SOB's that want to steal instead of work and destroy a family for all time. My GF is totally wrecked and there's nothing I can say to console her.
Shit like this reminds you of how quickly your life can change and how differently you SHOULD look at it. It's a gift.

I had an online friend whose mom was sentenced to death for something she didn't do. I was originally for the death penalty until I learned about that. This argument could go both ways forever.
I would think a life in prison would be much worse for the criminals involved, anyway.
-
I don't see why you want to use a tragic situation like this as a platform for a debate. It seems very inappropriate and is really the antithesis of rational argument. I am deeply sorry for your girlfriend's loss and the loss of that man's family.
-
It was rhetorical in nature. I in no way really want to debate the death penalty. When something like this touches you personally, however, there's a lot of emotion to go around.
-
Well, by putting it in Veteran's Board instead of Sound Off and from the question I assumed that you were trying to invite debate on the topic and knew it would get heated. I really hope that isn't the case because nothing good can come of it in a situation like this.
-
I got nothing to say other than sorry.
That really sucks.
-
Nah, no debate intended. You read about stuff like this and think it'll never affect your life. Well, it can.
-
thats deep haohmaru, almost like something you'd see in a movie. I'm really sorry to hear that happened, good luck.
For Death Penalty +1
-
That's a horrible story and I'm very sorry to hear it happened to someone so close to you.
-
I almost didn't post because anything I could put in this space would feel insignicant and cheesy.
Sorry man.
