So I borrowed the first 3 seasons of Six Feet Under from a friend, and now I need to make copies of them. Someone recommend some good, free software that I can use to bypass the copy protection and make said copies.

dvd shrink + nero. if that doesn't work dvd fab decrypt it (if you get crc errors and the like) then do the dvd shrink. (nero is used to burn but you never actually need to use the app, it's seamless from shrink).
fucking n00b
I tried the program and the resulting disc had terrible artifacting. Can you suggest a program that doesn't make the copy look like ass?
That comes from shrinking the DVD. Some movies are worse than others. Try getting rid of all the extras and other language tracks in DVD shrink, that may slightly reduce the artifacting.Quote:

I've heard that DL discs are near impossible to find.
Well that's the issue, these are only single layer discs AFAIK, so it shoudln't be a big deal to copy them straight over. I'll try it again and remove everything that I can from the copy.Quote:

The 2nd two are paid programs but the resulting DVD is barely noticeable when compared to the original.
It has been awhile since I have used it but I know that DVD Shrink has the option to do a high quality encode, it will take allot longer to complete but the result is much better quality.
The store at which I work always has many, many packages. Right now, DVD+R DL discs are 10 for $20 on sale.Quote:

If it's an HBO show I really doubt it's single layered, it's possible, but I doubt it. Just check the size when you put it in your disc drive. And like JMET said, make sure you use the high quality option with DVD shrink.Quote:
