I think you gotta blame Theo. If you're gonna drop $120 million on a baseball team, get a bullpen that's worth a shit. I don't think the Yanks have a great bullpen but at least it's not totally worthless.

It's mostly his fault, but it's not his fault that Timlin is falling apart this year and Foulke fell apart last year. In 2004 the bullpen was pretty damn good.Quote:

Timlin and Foulke are old...I don't think I expected them to be this useless but some decline was to be expected. Rudy Seanez? Julian Tavarez? Papelbon has been the only reliable guy, and even he was robbed from the rotation.
Foulke is 33. That's not old.
Edit: Tavarez and Seanez were decent the last couple years. I'm actually finding it harder and harder to blame Epstein. On paper the bullpen should've been at least average. it's not his fault they imploded.
Yeah, I liked it too, until I watched a 5 hour baseball game with the slo-mo after every at bat.Quote:

Foulke had injury problems last year, right? Taverez has always been a time bomb...and maybe I can give you Seanez.Quote:

Nice to see Yoshi's Wagner Effect extending to Boston.Quote:

Ahh well. The Sox got derailed by the untimely injury train, and the protection of its young pitching. Theo blew up at the trade deadline, and a sox fan can only hope that there is a detroit effect to these young guys. I doubt there will be, but there is nothing left to say.
Its not entirely over. But the return of any semblance of balance to this sox team (Wake, Trot, Tek especially) is probably gonna come too late, and our fill ins are simply not ready for this. Unless we win the next two we have very little chance of recovery.
Also Spodaddy, please die in a fire.
