Depends how many pitchers they have left standing in October.Quote:

Mets acquire RHP Guillermo Mota from Cleveland for PTBNL.
Good low-risk, high-reward move by the team that turned Jorge Julio's career around.
(The only thing is...he's a FA at the end of this year. Is he really gonna turn it around fast enough to help the Mets now? Because otherwise we're just helping him get paid in the offseason.)
Can this guy start games?
No, he's a reliever. He was Gagne's fantastic setup guy in LA two years ago but he's blown up since.
We're big on picking up pitchers who were awesome in 2004.
We need a starter.
Everyone needs a starter. There isn't anyone available who would represent an improvement on what we have even in the worst case scenario. If Mota turns it around, it could spring Heilman out of the pen and into the rotation, but I think we'd have to exhaust options like Dave Williams, Bannister, Perez and maybe even Pelfrey before that even goes on the table.
The Mets still have the best team in the league without either Pedro or Glavine, and without both I think they could still be competitive.
And on the flip side all of this could amount to nothing more than arm rest for these guys and they could come back by end of September in monster shape.
Nothing we can do but wait.
