P.S. Four guys in the regular Mets' starting lineup make less than $500K each this year.
From what I've seen the Mets farm system is fucking loaded. Anyone with more knowledge care to agree or disagree?

Dunno if I would call it loaded, but we have a few prospects. Guys like LoDuca and Delgado weren't free. And the Kazmir trade still makes me want to murder Duquette.
Beltran hasn't always been overrated...only in the few months after he turned into Reggie Jackson in October 2003. Otherwise he hasn't been a monster home-run hitter, but he's excellent at getting on base, getting around the bases, and playing center. That's why the Mets went in on him. Did they pay a little too much? Sure. Are they going to have a rock-solid center fielder for the next six years? Absolutely.Quote:

The Sox are paying $7M+ each to Varitek, Clement, Lowell, Foulke and Nixon. STFU please.
Varitek - One of the premier catchers in the game. Also a career RS.Quote:

Lowell - Necessary evil to get Beckett, balanced with his relatively cheap contract it's not so bad.
Foulke - Injury bug killed it. Freak injuries happen, he didn't have a history like Pedro did when the Mets signed him. No crying when Pedro breaks down.
Nixon - Also hampererd by injuries after his contract was extended, but a sox lifer. I don't see a problem with his $7mil.
$7 mil isn't even all that much these days. Money isn't the only thing that makes a bad contract. The other is length, something the Mets will be learning in a few years with thier big signings already getting up there and entering the decline phase of thier careers. Given that Manny has still produced every year the sox have been very lucky with his contract, even though it's labeled "bad" it has yet to actually be bad. Hopefully the Mets are as lucky, but Beltran has already had trouble producing.
Examples are mostly pointless anyway. A contract can't be properly evaluated till it's over. There is plenty of information to back up why the Red Sox are making a particular signing, for how much, and how long. If it doesnt work out you can still say that they evaluated the decision and made what appeared to be the best choice for them at the time. The Mets have no reasoning, they're throwing money at players without thinking about it. Two years ago they single handedly raised the market value of 3rd tier starters around baseball to $7/8 million through thier idiocy. That hurt a lot of mid and small market teams.
And thus everything you've posted today is invalidated. Thanks for playing.Quote:

And again, since you apparently can't read, LOL at the Mets hurting "mid-to-small" market teams when the Mets' 2006 salary is closer to DETROIT'S than to Boston's.
There are still good decisions and bad decisions. Do you hit on 18 in blackjack?Quote:
