I figured everyone would hear about it and it's the kind of outing I was expecting from Myers sometime in the near future. They played good ball against the Rockies but goddamn did their bullpen suck it up. The night they lost against the Rockies John Lieber had pitched up to the 7th inning and was taken out whe n the Rockies scored a run, putting them up 5-4. They put Cormier in I believe to take care of Helton...done. Then comes Geoff Geary and Matt Holiday gets his second bases loaded triple in as many nights. I'm not too worried (just yet) and hopefully their starters are going to be able to give 7 solid innings on an average night. Arthur Rhodes and Tom Gordon have been doing really well though, except that one game Gordon lost against the Cards I've had no problems with his performance at all.

Arthur Rhodes and Tom Gordon are like 2 of the top 3 guys who look great until they agonizingly blow up when you need them the most. All you guys need to do is trade for Benitez and the world will come to an end.

The Braves starters have been awful so far (except for the old horse Smoltz who is just phenomenal). Its too early to say whether the loss of Mazzone has really affected the team pitching. If the pitching continues to stink up the joint by June then I expect McDowell to get the axe..someone has to anyways.

Some notes from Shea last night:

The place was packed just before game time. The lines to buy tickets at the gate were tremendous, especially for a cold Monday night.

Beltran took another game off. I read it had something to do with his hamstring. Endy Chavez did a quality job out in center, even if he didn't hit a lick.

The guy behind us called both the Nady and Delgado HRs. Delgado's was a no-doubt shot off the bat, even from the weird disorienting perspective from the stands.

Why did Floyd leave the game unexpectedly early on? I was worried about a possible injury, but I can't find any notes about it. Jose Valentin replaced him and as usual completely sucked. The crowd did not appreciate.

Pedro clearly didn't have his good stuff last night, but as he has been doing recently, he's been pitching well enough to win. When he gets on track (assuming he stays healthy) he's going to be an automatic W every start.

When Shea hit its quietest moment all night (after Andruw Jones went deep) I screamed "WHATEVER YOU'RE STILL FAT!" It was worth the run.

Jorge Sosa looked better than he has all season, but the Mets just jumped on enough of his mistakes to get ahead. Braves' pen was lights-out, though in vain, because Sanchez was, too.

Enter Sandman is now 100% Billy Wagner property in Queens. No one thinks about Mo when Billy comes out, unless some guy is explaining the whole non-argument to his clueless girlfriend or something. I'm getting annoyed with the "Yankees Suck" chants in general - not because they don't, but we have better things to scream about.

Todd Pratt was the Braves' last out in the 9th. I was sad to hear a lot of personal abuse...this is a guy who hit a NLDS-winning walk-off HR for us in '99. Obviously I want the out, but a guy like this gets lifetime immunity in my book.

Time for The Victor Zambrano Show tonight. I'll be wearing Depends as always.

Ummm, so why did we send Diaz down? Are we going to start Valentin in left when he's 1) not an outfielder and 2) wholly unacceptable?

This whole "winning games with pitching and defense" thing is totally foreign to me.
