Saw it last night. Shockingly decent. Managed to maintain a healthy level of tension and dread despite nothing much really going on and no gore/blood at all.
Plus, the girl was really cute. Perhaps she clouded my judgement...

WTF?
WTF are you WTFing about?
Probably a WTF, Dolemite, this is a shitty remake of a classic movie WTF.
Lets give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was really fucked up at the time.
(I've heard that this movie isn't half bad, but I can't bring myself to go see this when there's like 10 movies out right now that are amazing. Like Munich, Syriana, Brokeback Mountain, etc.)
Ah. Let me explain myself.
I saw it for free, and went in expecting a complete piece of shit. What I got was a competently made movie that, while hitting all the standard horror movie clichés, still managed to be somewhat entertaining and creepy. Plus, the teenage girl who starred in it was really cute. Was it good cinema? No. Was I suprised that it wasn't a giant shit-fest? Yes.
It's a shame we live in a time where a movie being ever-so-slightly above average is considered a refreshing suprise, however.
BTW, never saw the original, but I'm aware of its status as a classic. I'll have to give it a rent at some point.
I think there was just a certain measure of exasperation and amusement about you seeing this and making a topic about it after your Kong thread tirades etc.
Actually, I didn't even know this was a remake of a classic until someone told me the night I went to see it. But what, am I never supposed to see a remake ever again? I'd almost never be able to go to the movies if I did that.
But I never said remakes were bad, just the super-huge amount of them being made lately.
Don't waste your time or money on Munich.Quote:
