Adventure Game Suggestions

Well, my gaming time during the work week has becomes rather limited since the birth of my daughter (no complaint, just fact). I still like to get a 1/2 or so of game time in after my daughter goes to sleep and before I go to bed.
With that said, I have started to play PC adventure games, since they are easy to get back into and can be played for short periods at a time.
In the past I've played very few adventure games outside of the Myst series. Over the last few months I have aquired quite a few classic adventure games, which were bought cheap or thrown in trades.

I'm mainly looking for some advise as to which of these are going to be the most entertaining and worth my time.

The List of stuff I have, but have not played:
Bad Mojo Redux
Conspiracies
Gabriel Knight Series
7th Guest and the 11th Hour
Full Throttle
Escape from Monkey Island
The Dig

I'll take any other suggestions for purchases as well. Console titles are not out of the picture.

I should mentions that I have played and enjoyed the following titles very much:
The Longest Journey
Missing: Since January
Grim Fandango
Still Life
Sanitarium

Monkey Island should be your number one priority. Full Throttle was way too short but what's there is pretty solid.

I never beat the first Gabriel Knight but I remember the story being really good. Voodoo and New Orleans or something.

I suggest you run out and get Day of the Tentacle. Good luck getting any of these to run btw.

Thanks for the reminder of the Bad Mojo games. I still haven't gotten around to playing those. Conspiracies is supposed to be mediocre. I enjoyed 7th Guest back in the day but I have no idea how it has aged. The Dig I just recently got and plan on starting it soon.

So, as for the rest of those you own I would recommend Full Throttle first, mostly because the Monkey Island series never clicked with me for some reason.

These are some of my suggestions for other games:

Sam & Max Hit the Road - I think this is the best comedy one.
Under a Killing Moon - The 3d engine and FMV are old school but the game is really charming and excellent in design.
Indigo Prophecy - It's more story than puzzles but it's a fun ride. The Euro version Fahrenheit is better since it's uncensored and the PC version is on one disc.
Dreamweb - A dark, twisted cyberpunk game. Very underrated.
The Last Express - Unique game that has incorporates time elements.

And there's the obvious Japanese developed ones: Shenmue, Snatcher, Phoenix Wright

I'd like to reccommend two lesser known games that are among the best adventures ever made:

Under a Killing Moon
Pandora Directive

Take my word for it, you won't regret it.

ScummVM makes running most LucasArts adventures amazingly easy, and it's been ported to damn near everything.

Sanitarium was awesome, wasn't it? TLJ was brilliant too but everybody knows that. Sanitarium on the other hand doesn't get mentioned nearly enough.

I've never been overly thrilled with any of the Tim Schafer games (though I'd still like to try Psychonauts).

I didn't like 7th Guest and *loathed* (as well as never finished) 11th Hour.

Here's a great little sleeper if you can find it: Safecracker. I had so much fun with this game, it's ridiculous. Basically you're interviewing for a job with a safe-making company and part of the process is breaking into their main office and cracking each and every one of their many safes. They have lots of different types and the contents of some lead to the solutions of others. It's awesome, very doable without a walkthrough for even the puzzly-challenged among us (aka me), with a great secret tucked away for those who solve the extra safe at the end.

I don't think I disagree with anything anyone's said in here :O Sanitarium was indeed good, but I seem to remember the combat being kind of stupid. Can't remember any specifics because my memory is terrible.

The Blade Runner game was really cool, I'd recommend tracking it down. Also, the Broken Sword games are quality, although maybe a bit more mundane than some of these other games. That's one of the great luxuries of being an adventure game though I guess!

Combat? In Sanitarium? I don't think so. That was a pure adventure.

I only played the first two Broken Sword games but didn't care much for either. They were okay I guess. Loved the art style though.

There were definitely at least boss battles, but it was a really small part of the game. Maybe I remember it because it's the one thing that felt a little off.

I keep an old school PC w/98 around to run older games. Got it pimped to the max with a Voodoo 5 5500 LOL.

These I have played. I really was disappointed with PW.
