The private home part is foolish, but the apartments and shopping malls makes sense.

If you live in the projects, you would probably feel much more safe with cameras in the halls.

Not IN the apartments, but in the public areas would probably be something most people would appreciate in violent neighborhoods.

Whats funny in the book 1984 thats the whole parties idea. They said if you were not thinking, doing, acting wrong then you had nothing to worry about. The only people that wouldn't be on edge 24/7 about this were people raised under the gun and knew no better or any thoughts that could lead up to doing wrong.

I don't think this will happen, it'll end up in the Supreme Court and the Bush Adminstration isn't that stupid.
