If you're on the second day and haven't done any case files, you're outta luck. Battery replacements can be found in the North Plaza or Paradise Plaza camera stores.
You don't need the maintainence key at all. I went through the game 2 times before I bothered to get it.
Thanks, TS. Hm. So I've got no shot at doing the case files then, eh? Should I just start over now, or play through 72 hours and level up so I can carry over?
When I do start again, what do I need to do in order to get the case files going? If I don't have the key, then how do I save survivors?
I love Dead Rising. It's awesome. I think it's probably the best game for the X-Box 360 right now, and there are quite a few good X-Box 360 games.
Did you ever fight Carlito in the food court? The mission is "backup for brad" and you have until about 2 am after the first day.Quote:

Lastly, you get survivors to the security room by hauling them all the way there through the warehouse elevator to the roof.
You don't have to have the key to do anything. Most of the survivors you'll come across are told to you by Otis over the radio, pretty much everyone is in the shops in the mall. Some you just have to go to into the store to escort them, sometimes you have to take on a psychopath to rescue them and then escort them back to HQ. Since you haven't done a whole lot, don't be afraid to restart. Once you get higher leveled the game gets much easier (you get a crap load of PP for rescuing people). It's impossible to do everything at once, I just saved people between cases when I had the time to do it. I pretty much just followed the cases my first time through...remember that if you don't get to the next spot that the case tells you to (like get back to HQ by 2 pm or whatever) you fail the story. All the cases after that will be blacked out and you won't be able to do any of them.Quote:

Never fought Carlito - other than meeting him on the roof, I haven't seen a trace of him. Never got a "backup for brad" mission either.
So without the key, I have to take each survivor all the way to the warehouse? Sounds tough with the ones that need carrying.
I've found plenty of survivors and got PP for them joining me, but since I didn't know where to take them they'd eventually die. I'm at level 7, at 1pm on the second day. Think I'll learn where everything is, level up, and then go after the cases on the next playthrough.
Complicated stuff, but sounds like there's many ways to play this. I did read that DR was built around replay and now I see why. Pretty cool.
Is it even possible to not get this mission? As soon as you try to leave the warehouse for the first time it's forcibly given to you, and AFAIK there's no other way to get out of the initial area.Quote:
