Oh my God. Seriously. This is why I wanted the next gen systems to hurry up and be released. I'll buy an Xbox 360 simply for this game, I swear to God. The scenes where you just see this endless swarm of zombies in the background... that's what I like, baby.
It might not be RE4 engine + Jill + crapload of zombies, but that can come later. This'll more than do for now.
Oh, and Capcom? Seriously... take this exact engine, make it online, and make the point of the game simply to see how long you (and others) can survive.
There's a longer version with better quality on gametrailers.
Details so far is it's a completely non-linear game built around the idea of being replayed over and over. Sounds and looks fantastic, but really needs online multiplayer for up to four people to convince me to get an X360 for it. That's what made Spikeout fantastic, and this has the chance of being 10x that.
I swear I saw a lightsaber in there. This is easily the most promising game on the 360. I just wish it would hurry.
Now this is what I'm talking about.
This is the game that will make me buy a 360.
I must have watched the trailer a dozen times by now.
Hot shit, I loved the Servbot part.
I was bummed when this was delayed... but I found other games to keep me busy, and I'm glad they aren't rushing this.
Yeah, this is one of the coolest looking games I've seen yet out of the next gen, can't wait.
Yup, this one is on my list.
yeah this is looking really fun. Much better than I was expecting ay 1st.
Umm, all I see is State of Emergency + Zombies + Escort Missions (the worst type of missions). Meh.
After watching that Las Vegas version trailer, this is an immediate purchase.
For some reason from the magazine previews, I was thinking this would be like State of Emergency, but hot damn this looks excellent
Cant wait to plop construction cones on zombies heads
Edit: Damn you Diff :P
Yeah, but you hate fun.Quote:

Looks kind of fun. A couple of things:
A) The colour palette was a little too cheery for my taste, especially considering the dark nature of the game, although perhaps they purposely did this to lighten the mood amidst zombie slaughtering. A minor setback for me, if one at all.
and
B) The gameplay shown looks like it would get old really fast. Once you've killed one zombie, bodyslammed one zombie, and put a funny hat on one zombie you've done it to every zombie. We did see some rescue stuff, but if they don't find ways to keep you interested past the rescue missions (which I see becomming more of a chore) and the monotonous zombie bashing then it will become boring extremely quickly.
Looks awesome.
The problem here isn't diff. It's people who are recklessly jumping on the bandwagon of the first decent and fresh looking Xbox 360 without actually stepping back to look at the finer details.Quote:

It may be fun, and if it's fun enough some of this may be over looked.
Anyway, it looks pretty good but I remain skeptical.
if i can mindlessly kill hundreds of zombies, it will never get old to me.
you missed the boat, broQuote:

That's why I'm excited - it might not end up being a very exciting game in general, but it could be a very exciting zombie game. If you're not into the whole zombie aspect, then certainly, I can see why it could look utterly boring. I've wanted a game where the whole point was simply to see how long you could survive with zombies running around, so that's why I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
It also depends on how the sidequest stuff ends up working. It reminds me a bit of the original Dawn of the Dead movie - for a lot of the movie, the point wasn't killing zombies, it was getting things done, and the zombies just got in the way. If those elements are good enough, then I think that would help the game rise above other games where the point simply is to just beat stuff up, which can get old quickly.
I can see why people are excited over the trailer, it looks awesome.
This is the kind of stuff next-gen systems should be going for, not just the same old game with higher polygon counts. Not saying that this game will be amazing, but at least it has the potential to offer new kinds of gameplay.
Huh? What is is game doing differently? How does this look any different from State of Emergencey, other than having more zombies per square foot in the world?Quote:

You are missing the point here. ZOMBIES. Hundreds of them. You get a chainsaw. There is no way this game can suck. Yes, I am a zombie fan-girl (is there such thing?).
I just meant that having so many models on the screen at once is a good use of the 360's power. And that it could potentially be used in original ways. Potentially. I never played State of Emergency though.Quote:

Nobody who watches this thing in action can say they don't realize it can get repetitive very quickly.
But there are different types of repetition.
There is the repetition that induces boredom.
Repetition that induces that trippy zen state that usually only comes from playing shit like Mars Matrix.
And repetition of the mindless variety that induces a giddy, relaxed state of mind.
Dead rising appears to fall into the latter catagory.
I've been guardedly optimistic about Dead Rising for a while. "Zombies in a mall" is one of those perfect gaming concepts, and even if it does get repetitious, which I'm pretty sure it will, clever scenarios and lots of weapons to play with can go a long way to offsetting that.

If Infected did well, I don't see how this one can't.
Because they're entirely different in just about every way?Quote:

Then I'll have hacked, shot, bowled (that shit is so gay) as many zombies as I can stand, and I'll be wanting more. But all Capcom will have is for me to sit through badly voiced, badly written dialogue that's just a placeholder to get me to escort person X to spot Y.
Unless the game is hiding something special, then like I said I only see it being worth a rental.
EDIT: I said SEGA when I meant Capcom.
Well, as I said- "guardedly optimistic". I know there's a million ways this could go wrong, and that sheer droning repetition (hit the B button 5 times for 5-hit combo for the billionth time! Yes!) could kill it dead. But I want it to be good because I like the idea.
I won't forgive it if it sucks, but if it's at least decent then I'll be happy. All it takes is solid controls and lots of variety in the fighting engine.
James
I'm pretty sure they wont ;PQuote:

Sonic
Resident Evil 5
If Dead Rising flops, 2006 will be a terrible, terrible year for the system.
The Megaman/Onimusha guy is behind this right? That seems promising to me, if only because I wasn't expecting that much from Onimusha but was pleasantly surprised.
He's behind Lost Planet. Is he behind this too?Quote:

Desperately needs multiplayer. The end of the trailer shows a big old "Xbox Live" so that's encouraging.
My guess is it's because they'll have leaderboards, or maybe content. I don't see multiple people running around the same mall.... although that could explain some of the delay... you'd think they would have said something about it by now though... heck, it could be something as simple as Capcom put it there because it was "live aware" but every game is, and they just didn't change it.Quote:

Go buy Final Fight: Street Wise. In fact, buy both versions. It's a Capcom instant classic.Quote:

This game has to be awesome; IT HAS TO BE, or my faith in Capcom will be squashed forever.
Apparently the game is very short, and meant to be replayed over and over. I forget where I saw the interview, but that's what the developer said.Quote:

As long as I can pick this game up for $3 used a week after release like State of Emergency, I'll be a satisfied customer.

Without co-op this is just a $60 tech demo.
I still can't believe it's not in there. Didn't even SoE have it?
I foresee this game getting a bunch of 6's and 7's with complaints of the game being too short. Yes, I am stating the obvious.
Which will mean I won't be buying it.Quote:

Come on, it's been stated time and time again Dead Rising is built with replayability in mind, that the first playthrough is more of a practice run. The game is supposed to be a zombie-filled playground where you can either follow the story or just screw with the undead. Throw in stats and unlockables that carry over from one playthorugh to the next and I really don't see this being a "short" game.
James
Didn't Capcom make that game where you are an alien and you screwed with people? That sucked.
Under the Skin? Yes.
Under the skin?
Didn't Blizzard make Blackthorne? That sucked.
Translated- what's Under the Skin got to go with anything?
James
You said this game has great replay value because you can just "screw with the undead"...well, that sounds a lot like the very recently-released UTS (a game where you just "screw with the not undead". Both Capcom games (although I don't know who developed either of them, but whatever). There is a reason for me to be wary.
If this thing is pulling a 70% at gamerankings I'm not buying it.Quote:

It will be up to the player as to what he does in the 72 hours before rescue. Do you concentrate on taking pictures for a big scoop? Do you play the hero and save the NPCs? Or do you just hide? The game rewards you accordingly for the way you play it (I think).
I'm not worried about the game being too short. If it's fun, I'll play it over and over just to do different things and play different ways.
I look forward to renting this.

So is Final Fantasy X-2.
It worked in Way of the Samurai. Never played the second one, but the first was a blast. Even though there wasn't a mind-boggling number of ways to play it, there were little things you could switch up in each path that were very interesting. Also, it's fun to be a complete dick and make as many main characters as possible die. Shit... now I really want to play it, but I left it out of state. Grr.Quote:
