Yeah, I forgot about that imac nonsense. Imagine my dismay when I brought the 360 back to Maryland with me (while I was living in VA) and only had my VGA cable, thinking it would work fine on my roomates slick widescreen imac monitor.
Much as I love Apple, I do wish they had given the iMac some video inputs - it would have been such a hardcore little computer had they done that.

As a side note, the Frank the Pimp achievement can't be done in a Saint Run, unless you have some crazy nuts and feel like escorting 12 people through about the hardest part of the game. I figured at way to get it, which shouldn't be too hard, and pretty much involves leaving your people in bathrooms while you wait for scoops to pop up.
That's pretty stupid, why didn't they include any?Quote:

I got a laugh today when I can back through the warehouse to rest on the bench outside the camera room. I had a maniquinn torso equiped and when Frank laid down he put it behind his head and rested his melon right on the maniquinn's sack.
No glitch.Quote:

Well, shit.
I'm sitting on the roof with all the cases completed waiting for 11 more hours to pass to get the fuck out of dodge. I wish there was a Shenmue II style fast forward.
I just kept running back into the warehouse and shooting the Special Ops from the top of the racks, OVER AND OVER. Good time killer, and I went up like 4 levels.Quote:

Yoshi, if this is your first playthrough, and if you want the A ending, you're going to have to talk to Isabella, and then talk to her again after 10pm.
I think the best way to waste time during that period (at least when you're still gaining levels), is to hang out in North Plaza. Pick off all of the special forces in the supermarket, stock up on wine, then exit, use the motorcycle to easily mop up all of the special forces, go back to the supermarket, rinse and repeat. There is a very convenient bathroom near the supermarket, and you're right in the area of the hideout, so once you get the call from Isabella you can run right over to her, then make your way back to the helipad.
I've been using the Brady Games Strat Guid partly, but I've found that doing things out of the order they list them in is sometimes helpful. Aslo I've been getting things done quicker than they have listed many times and that leaves me doing scoops before missions that they would have you doing during missions.Quote:

Pro-tip: At 10AM Isabella is going to want to talk to you. Go hang out in her hideout until then and a cutscene will trigger. After that you can go back to the helipad without anyone trying to kill you.Quote:

prince: when isabella phones you at like 10am, you HAVE to go back to talk to her before waiting at the heliport.
That is the A ending. Now you start overtime mode which shows what happened after that and allows you to escape teh mall with full knowledge of Carlito's plan.Quote:

Wait, do you mean he was killed before he started flying the helicopter? Because according to everything I've read the pilot only gets killed on the roof of the other building if you aren't on the helipad at noon. If you are he gets killed in the helicopter and crashes into the clock tower.
I guess the explination must be that you have to talk to Isabella after 10 (which I did) to get the A ending.
I got fucked then. I was on the damn helipad at noon with all cases done and got the shit C ending.
Did you talk to Isabella at 10AM though? It clears out the mall of special forces and so on, so you'd know if you did.
No, I didn't.
Then I think we figured it out.
Fuck. When the message said "hideout" I was thinking Security room for some stupid reason. I'm screwed because my save is at 10:15. Oh well. Next run through.Quote:

Dude, you have two hours. I was able to go from the Security Room to the Hardware store, fight the crazy guy and get back in about an hour and a half.Quote:

Yes, you can. You have from 10AM to 12PM to talk to her, but obviously you want to be back at the hleipad at 12PM.Quote:

Oh yeah, Special Ops adivce: In the warehouse run along the tops of the crates until you get to the edge closest to the door you're going for, do a knee drop to keep from taking fall damage and stagering and then just bee line it for the door. Once outside just run with all speed towards the park, don't stop to fight, just run. North Plaza is just a matter of staying on the higher scaffolding and runnning like a bitch.
Really, the best advice for the special ops is don't fight them. They can't hit you well once you're a distance away and in the middle of zombies, so you should be fine. If Overtime mode though, you might need some strategy.
1 word for Prince and his 'time dillema': Skateboard
Go steal one in paradise and you'll be able to get to north plaza, talk to izzy, and haul balls back to paradise without issue.
Yeah, that was my first thought. Still, I'm taking a lot of damage just trying to get over to North Plaza. (I didn't purposefully level up -- just playing through my first run.) Oh yeah, and I'm not entirely sure where the hideout is in north plaza.Quote:

I have a quick question for anybody who has already beaten this game (Sorry if this seems more like a gamefaqs question)
I think I am getting fairly close to the "end" of the game right now. I am currently on the casefile where I have to fight "The Butcher" and save Carlito. The problem I am having is that it takes me too long to defeat the butcher and Carlito always ends up dying....
I am not quite sure why I can't kill the butcher fast enough. I usually enter the battle with the machine gun, two pistols, and three juices. However, my character is only at level 14 because I have not completed most of the side quests.
So, I was just wondering...is it actually possible to beat the butcher quickly enough at my characters current level? OR, do I absolutely have to start the game over from the beginning and level up some more? Are there stronger weapons that I should be using?
Thanks in advance if you can answer this question. I really think Dead Rising is an awesome game, but I am still a little puzzled as to the best way to work my way through the game. I'm starting to think that I am supposed to start over a couple times before I can actually "beat" the game, but I am always reluctant to just save over my file and start from the beginning.
Chainsaw. Always bring the chainsaw.
magnifiedplaid: to do spoiler tags you do [_spoiler] the spoiler goes here [_/spoiler]
Just take out the _ and it'll work.
Cool. Thanks for helping me out with that.Quote:

Yes, it is.
OK. I think I should just head back there and find that chainsaw then. I kind of wish that there was a way to choose which stats you want to upgrade when you level up in this game. I would have definitely chosen to level up my speed first, because the main character seems to move really slow at the start of the game and it makes me reluctant to explore more of the mall.
I agree with you about picking your stats. The special moves were completely worthless to me, as I used a weapon 99.9% of the time.
Exactly. Up to this point in the game, I think I could live without most of the special moves. I only really used that head walking one a couple of times to jump over the zombies if I didn't have a weapon. However, its so rare that I wouldn't have a weapon in this game that it still seems almost worthless. I hope Capcom fixes some of this games minor flaws for the inevitable sequel. At the very least, if they keep the text the same size, they should consider giving away a free magnifying glass for those of us without an HDTV.
Ha! Made it on my next try. I finished the game wearing a blue granny dress, combat boots, and a baseball cap -- while holding a skateboard.
special moves i continuously use: sommersault kick, zombie ride, jump kick, roundhouse(and it's variants), the lariat, and all the throws
The knee drop is where it is at.
true, the knee drop is a definite tool(i cant believe i missed that in my list)
a thing to note is that just like after a jumpkick, you can perform the roundhouse directly after a sommersault kick, it's just that the timing is a bitch(far less of a window than normal)
ps: juggling benches with the sommersault is made of win(especially if you get it nice and high, only for it to land on an attacking zombie)
This game is really awesome, but the saving system sucks. Can you save those ten people at the beginning of the game when the zombies first get into the mall?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the save system.
Meh, so you say, it must be true then. Although, it could be attributed to the fact that I don't know my way around the mall very well. Once I can find the BATHROOMS (which is stupid) easily I may change my mind. For now, it annoys the hell out of me. Everything else is awesome so it is a very minor nitpick. Actually, now that I think about it, the aiming is a bit wonky too.Quote:

My friend brought this over yesterday and i thought everything was cool except one thing. The saving was alright, the aim is not needed cuz the gun sucked, but the thing i couldn't stand is the textures. When I think next gen i think crisp colorful textures. Tho the characters models looked somewhat next gen and the amount of shit that was on screen was amazing the fact that the textures didn't look next gen was a minus. BUT when I buy a 360 this is a game that i will get.
I love how it looks, I haven't really noticed any really weak textures, except for maybe the grass in the promenade but have you ever seen an empty mall? It's very sterile looking. I think the game represents that well. There's only so much detail from a cement wall or tiled floor you can see without zooming in on it. Did you play it on an HDTV?
Wasn't on HDTV but it was on a tv with component hookups. And the textures to me just looked bland and too much brown. Or maybe I'm just used to next gen games to have dynamic lighting which that game doesn't have
Definatly looks better on an HD set.
Strange. I feel exactly the opposite. I think the character models are (at least during gameplay, not during cutscenes) one of the weaker parts of the game visually, where as the textures are one of it's strongest points, very crisp and colorful.Quote:

I love the look of the game.Quote:

First run through, A Ending 4517 zombies 15 survivors and 26408pp from Photos.
Hooray.
This is true. At first I thought the save system was a huge flaw. I had an incident where I either died or failed a case and chose save and quit only to discover that I had to start all over again, but this was my own fault. The actual save system works great.Quote:

Yes, you have to do Overtime because Isabella counts as the 50th Survivor. Hmm... unless not getting the A ending would cause Brad and Jessie to stay alive. I should read up on this online.
SHOCK AND AWE Dead Rising is doing really well.
Furthermore the tunnel at the end is not a fucking joke.
I finished everything I needed to get Saint.
Transmissionary is fucking bullshit, you have to make sure you aren't in the security room until after Otis calls to tell you something (like Isabella woke up or wants to talk to you) which he only does if you're in the mall with 15-30 minutes until the CASE starts. I forgot that and only got like 35 of 38 transmissions.
What does that mean? It means I have to do CASES again if I want to get the achievement and I have to make sure I time my return properly. I'm not sure if I'm up for that this week.
I don't think it was stupid in what i said... and yes it wasn't an HDTV, per se it can recieve HDTV signals the tv it was on was an EDTV.Quote:

Man, NikkoCitiGroup forecasters sure earn their keep.
If you want perfect gunner and you've been having issues getting it, apparantly there's a really easy shortcut: get a Special Ops Machine Gun then go into the butcher shop and unload all 150 shots into one of the hanging slabs of beef. Apparantly it counts and takes no skill.

Fucker is pretty quick on his feet.
He's pretty simple, you just have to stick and move when you're lower level. Use melee weapons (The katana works well, as should the hammer. Axe or sword would be good, too), and run around waiting for him to swing at you, when he does just move out of the way, and he'll be open to at least one swing. Occasionally he'll even kneel down after being hit, in which case you can either get another swing or two in, or jump kick him and then get a swing in when he's down. The fight should be over pretty easily in a few minutes.
despair: have your buddy grab some hedge clippers. bait the douchebag to do his standard 2 hit swing, dodge it, and then hit him while he's got delay with the strong attack. shouldn't take more than 5 hits and/or 45 seconds.
wash. rinse. repeat.
I finished my second run and was thinking of doing the Overtime mode. Do you start without any of the weapons/items that you finished with in the 72-hour mode? Seems like it, and that sucks.
Edit: And WTF? Mini-chainsaws are gone, too? So far, I hate this.
suck it up wussy

DR is reviewed in the newest Game Informer (September). They gave it a 9.25 and a 9.
Best advice one can give, I suppose. I did suck it up and managed to get through the first couple of fetch quests -- it's just a different feel than the 72-hour game.Quote:

If you want to make overtime mode easier for yourself, grab the chainsaws(if you killed Adam in the 72hour mode) and then the appropriate books. Then make sure you have the maintenance key and get from place to place strictly by underground travel. No spec-ops spawn there, and you can snag everything fairly quick and easy that way.Quote:

If you play overtime mode with the same save as 72 hour mode (meaning you just keep playing after 72 hour mode ends) you keep your inventory. I already have the chainsaws and all the good books and such.Quote:

See, that was the problem. I got called away just after beating 72-hour mode, so I just let it save and then even played the next cut scene. When I went back to the game, however, all of my inventory was gone, and now there are no mini-chainsaws on the map. I obviously switched it off at a bad time, so now I'm tempted to go back through the 72-hour mode just so I can go into Overtime properly equipped. Annoying. By the way, where is the bicycle?Quote:
