Camino OSX

So word has it that a new browser is out. Plz tell me why I need another browser? I'm already forced to use IE or FF for some pages. What's the good word on Camino?

I've been curious, too. I'm giving it a shot.

I'm on it now. It's more or less a replacement for Safari like FireFox is a replacement for IE. Works a bit faster, from what I can tell, too, yes.

Camino isn't new - it has been around for a long time.

It is a Mac OSX-specific version of FireFox, basically. Take the Gecko core, make it a Cocoa app with actual Mac widgets, interface, and whatnot, and you've got Camino.

I'd argue that Camino would be a replacement for FireFox, not Safari, because they both use the same engine, while Safari is KHTML, which could get you different rendering results.

ah ok, I rarely use Safari anyways. Camino seem real good and fast. I might stick with it. Better for TNL than firefox imo.

Is there a way to close tabs by via the mouse-wheel on it? FF got me sorta hooked on that.

been using this for 1 day now and so far it beats firefox. Besides a few minor annoyances I could see this becoming my default browser. It feels like a solid version of firefox without the unstability.

Everyone always talks about Firefox's unstability and I'm all "whatever". I'm using a G5 optimized build of Firefox and it doesn't crash or any of that shit.

Am I missing something?

You're right. Firefox is pretty perfect for me. I find that Safari crashes way more often. And this spans like the 5-10 different computers I use on a regular basis.

I use the same thing, but it crashes at least twice a day for me. I use the nightly builds though, perhaps thats why... Or perhaps it's the magnitude of all those porn pages FF can't handle.

only FF problems i ever had were plugin related and the usual memory leak.
