i'm thinking of getting a nano from the apple site. i read the return info and it said no returns on personalized ipods. i was going to get the laser engraving but i assumed that would fall under personalized. any of you guys know?

That's what personalized means. If you get anything engraved on it, you can't get returns under the free/limited warranty.
but if i got the 2-year extension i'd be fine? just leery of the defect rate you read about everywhere, tho it seems mostly around the larger ipod videos. dont they use actual drives for storage?
Laser engraving is the tackiest thing you could do to an ipod.

I would never get anything engraved. Purpose being is that if I want to sell it, I would get a better value as opposed to selling an item that has an engraving. No one would want to buy an item with someone elses name or company on it regardless if you have a case covering the name/company.
