There are probably more threads about Macs + Intel.
Apple's prissy asses got pissed because IBM decided that the game industry was more important than they were (which it is), so they went to Intel. Apple now will have less powerful (relatively) CPUs in their Macs, and Sony (Cell), Nintendo (Gekko & Hollywood), and Microsoft (Waternoose) have and will have PowerPC chips in their consoles. Microsoft has already signed up for a PowerPC chip for their next system after the 360.

i take it this is only good news for gamers on Macs?(if there is such thing as gamers on mac lol)
Before Intel, Apple was using IBM PowerPC chips.Quote:

Its easier for developers because they dont have to compile and optimize for a different CPU, though. Athlons' primary goal in life is to maintain x86 compatibility, everything else is a bonus - PowerPC concerned itself with no such thing.
Blizzard demo'd World of Warcraft on an Intel Mac (remember the binaries for Mac OS are already there) and it screamed.
Good point.Quote:

Almost all reports so far have stated that Mac OSX runs faster on the Intel processors at the same processor speed. And if I was Apple, and counted on IBM for processors, I'd be a bit pissed too if they suddenly decided they had no interest in working on laptop-usable processors, or the fact that there were supposed to be 3.0GHz G5s two years ago.
IBM/motorola freescale, had problems with the G5 chip and heat, and also yielding enough chips per wafer....nothing to do with IBM saying fuck apple, actually same thing happend to MS and the 360 launch, not enough chips, so there is a supply problem
