There would not. The emotional connection with the child only happens after birth. That's what makes abortion possible for a mother.

Mothers feel differently about the baby once it's born. Plenty of women hadn't planned a pregnancy and didn't want a child until it was born, when suddenly, once born, it gave their life new meaning. Pregnancy is by its nature unwanted or unexpected.

There would still be an increase though.

I tried to compare the infanticide statistics available at the Bureau of Justice Statistics website, but they only go as far back as '76 and Roe v. Wade was in '73. However, the data available shows that homicides of children age 1 or under were constant up until the mid-nineties when there was a sharp increase. By the late nineties they returned to previous levels and have been on the decline since then up until 2002 when the data was compiled.

Like 75 percent of this post is really good stuff.

Quality of life really depends on where you're at and who you are. Less drugs on the street and lower crime rates also equals higher rent and loss of culture. The culture thing is debatable but living in NYC all my life I can tell you my children will never be able to do all the awesome shit I got away with as a kid. That's all thanks to my "quality of life" improving.

If there's infanticide now, while it's still possible to abort a child, it's an absolute inevitability that if that choice is taken away that there will be more. The statistical percentage may not increase and may even decrease slightly because of the increased birth rate, but the actual number would be higher.

But how accurate would something like that be? How do you get that kind of info to have stastical data? infanticide is typically something people try to hide.
