You don't even know what the fuck you're talking about here IronPlant. Those crime statistics are compiled the same way any study is compiled - by examining available data. Even if you want to stick with your stupid bullshit that the two are different and infanticide somehow easier to cover-up the fact remains that there is enough available data still make conclusions on trends without worrying about a few undocumented cases.

But, as anyone with a knowledge of elementary statistics can tell you, you don't need every case to make claims that are perfectly reasonable if you have enough data.

If you want me to take your series of generalizations seriously, cite some statistics. Otherwise any hypothetical set of potential mothers is as good as any other, and your argument is worthless.

But when they're given the choice, they tend not to do that. I live in a country with a high standard of living, child benefits and the like, and there's very little adoption from within and birth rates are high. There's virtually no adoption here that I know of. That was the original point:Given the choice, wanted or unwanted, women tend to keep their babies. Poverty reduces choice and encourages either a) adoption to rich families or foreign countries or b) abortion, if available.

Anyway, here's the solution. If you live in the middle of nowhere, like IronPlant, you should be forced to have the kid. If you live in a city, you should be forced to have an abortion as early as possible: like, your doctor informs the authorities or your local planned parenthood and then the liberal gestapo show up to eliminate your black or Mexican child.

Not exactly. I thought you meant there would be a significant increase in infanticide to replace all those abortions that couldn't happen. So you only meant there would be a slight increase?

I stated I couldn't predict what sort of increase, but yes I was erring on the side of "slight". I can't see where you'd possibly infer that I was suggesting there would be an explosion of them... I was trying to convey that one more would be too many.

I think this is sort of a common sense issue. Why not make it illegal to have an abortion if the pregnancy is at the point where the fetus has undeniable living human traits (heartbeat, brain activity, etc.)? That would basically mean first trimester abortions only. Keep in mind, babies have been delivered as prematurely as 5-6 months and grown up to be healthy and normal.
