Opinion about debate on ebay
I am interested in whether I am in the right or wrong here, nothing else.
I bought a keybaord a few days back off ebay, and it just arrived today. It cost 45 euros ~$50.
However, it was some shitty windows media edition, which I just thought was a special edition, but turned out that it only works with a tv with IR receiver, and Windows Media Centre only.
That was my mistake upon not researching enough; I accept that mistake.
However:
This keyboard was clearly defined as a QWERTY keyboard, and I also asked the man, and he confirmed this is so.
However, upon receiving the keyboard today, all the guy did was swap one key round, so that it looks like this: (not the actual keyboard, just the layout). What he switched it too didn't even look like a QWERTY. Notice the Z and the M locations, along with all the other keys.

Not like a real qwerty:

As well as having 13 other function keys, all in French.
So it is not simply a matter of switching the keys to like an English keyboard.
So the thing is that this keyboard is no good to me because:
1) I don't have the hardware/software to use it (this is my mistake)
2) It's in French and that's no good to me in the long run, with all the gay accents and shit. (this is the ebay guys mistake). Note that I would have returned a French keyboard, regardless of whether I had a hardware issue or not.
So I want to return it to the guy. However, this falls upon the definition of what a QWERTY keyboard is. Mine was that it read qwerty, and had all the english keys. One definition is here:
Quote:
Said of an English-language typewriter, word processor or other keyboard: having the standard arrangement of keys, ie with the letters q w e r t y appearing in that order at the top left of the letters section.
So here, it is defined as in English, but many other definitions of QWERTY does not say that the Keyboard is in the English language.
I'd just like to know whether I'm in the right here, by pushing to return this keybaord to the ebay guy, and what sort of a chance I have of succeeding. Also, am I an asshole by being so fussy about the language? Maybe, but I was very specific about wanting a QWERTY
I linked him to those two links shown above, and sent him that quote, defining a QWERTY keyboard.
Thanks for any real opinions.
