There was a big riot at my school on friday and it was closd down. One chick got ran over and 2 of my friends were arrested for beating up some kid that was for the bill

But what's keeping me up at night is proposed legislation that passed in the House with no press in December and is being forced through the Senate by Bill Frist right now. The version of the house bill, broadly interpretted, could make my wife a criminal for marrying me and subject her to "not less than one year in prison". The same would be true of the parents of 3.2 million other American citizens.
Thousands have rallied across the country already -- the latest in Washington on Tuesday (5,000), but the press is not covering it.
I know that these days there's always some scandal taking up the news, but this legislation threatens millions of families -- we're talking about people coming in the middle of the night to drag off families.
Well, on the bright side at least some of those people going to prison will get 3 square meals a day and a bunk bed of their own. That might be more than what they get in Old Mexico...

Well the farmers are incorporated and I know they don't sell, ship, and get their products to stores on their own dime. They're probably working for a big agricon group. I.A. have better rights than I do in California. They can't be ticketed if pulled over by state police but they also can't be detained; the police do have the right to impound the vehicle but since the Illegal will never have the money to buy it out most tow yards don't want to bother with it and as such the cars are almost never impounded. If an I.A. is doing a construction or landscaping buisness they won't have any major reprocusions if they break contracts, codes or don't get inspections. They can use our schools without paying the taxes for them. They can use our hosipitals without having to pay.

I was stuck in traffic for 2 hours last Friday when this was going on here in Phoenix. I didn't know exactly what was happening until I got home and watched the news, but with the thousands of people walking the streets and all the cops and helicopters, it looked like everyone in the city was being evactuated or something.
There were people just abandoning their vehicles and coming out of buildings walking to some destination. They were all just smiling, no sense of panic or chaos - so naturally I was like "WTF?!" just sitting in my car while all this was happening around me.
Like I said I think some people have no idea what this rally was about.
The shock is there are more people for the bill than against it.
I have to admit that kinda scares me.
rumour is their is a statewide school walkout tomorrow. However the school has already announced that if their is another riot Prom is cancelled and any seniors walking(that includes your's truly) won't be at graduation

I was driving to lunch today and I noticed that a local high school's (San Marcos, CA) students had walked out. I'm all for protesting (and protesting the protesters) and what not, but when you have people running around screaming "FUCK THE USA" and waving a Mexican flag around, that just pisses me off.
If you love your goddamn foresaken country so much, GO LIVE THERE.
I work hard (sorta) and pay my income/state taxes so these fucks can come to the schools that I pay fund for free. They collect food stamps/WIC that comes out of my checks. They live off the Wellfare that I am being charged for. All for free.
I dont want to hear your "Oh, but they pay sales tax" bullshit, because that 7.75% that they're paying for Corona ain't shit compaired to what gets deducted out of my paycheck every week.

You know, I suspect at least some of the anger surrounding this is because the way the bill is written makes it very easy to harass legitimate citizens, if not outright deporting them due to a few clever little catch-22s in the language (and government is in no way above abusing the wording in bills).
Getting rid of illegal immigrants = good.

That "illegal aliens do the jobs Americans won't" is a canard, they do the jobs Americans would do if the payment was proper.
I remember reading a Maddox article and he said the way to fix the illegal immigration issue is to enforce the laws and make sure ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WERE PAID THE SAME AS LEGAL CITIZENS.
That way, there is no incentive for employers to hire illegal immigrants (except for some tax issues, but it wouldnt be worth the trouble if the enforcers were doing their job).
Without anybody willing to hire illegals, they wouldn't come here.
The jobs would then go to Americans willing to work for them, and the salaries would be at the market rate, not suppressed because of a near-infinite supply of 3rd world labor

Follow the money trail is easy and I never said Corps are to blame. But what I did say is that if you are CEO of "X" corp. And you have a sub headquaters in "A"state. And in that HQ you have a "c" office. Most of the time you have no idea if that office is following the rules. IE: Comcast. Brian Roberts and for that matter his directors have no idea what I am doing in The East Brunswick office in NJ. He has no clue. Nor does he realize that Comcast employees go on gaming Messageboards. So, its not his fault per se, its more the fault of the individual who hired them. So, when I talked about the farms and gOzen said in response its the Corps fault. Again, the farmer who hired is at fault not the Corp. Half the time the Corp just buys the grapes and has no idea how its picked they just know ... IT IS.
And yeah I know Asians are Number 2, but heres the thing. We try. We go and try to get naturalized. We at least learn the language ... sure we say .. "Five ten minute." But at least we talk it and not stand there in a stupor as to what you just said and then say ... "Que?"
I was adopted and was raised by a German and a Polish. But I know my history. And I know its not f'ing difficult to get Naturalized ... NOR get a green card. Sure you have to stand in line and you need a Birth cert or evidence you were born where you were. But its not damn hard. Theres this thing called an Embassy ...

In canada, a lot of our farm workers come from mexico or jamaica.
They come here and work for a few months, earning less than canadians would, and then go back home to be with their families.
It's all very common and perfectly legal.
In fact, the gov't helps connect migrant workers with farmers.
Can't something similar be done in california?
