JC or bust?

Well with HS coming to an end I have to think about college. I really like aniamtion(especially writing and directing) however I am not an artist. I have been thinking of going to junior college first to brush up on my art,flash,C++ and animation skills.

Is going to junior college first a smart idea or is it better to just skip it entirely.

It depends. If you can go to a university, would be be living on campus, and not break the bank, that should be first choice. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I went to a junior college (but hung out at uni dorms enough to get my debauchery kicks in) and it's been my favorite school experience. It's a leisurely pace and fuck around in all the classes you want to brush up/learn new things/expand horizons without the guilt that you're hemorraging money.

Don't go into animation. Just don't. It's slave labour, doesn't pay that well, and like 10% of people who go into it seem to actually end up with jobs. You must have marketable interests outside of cartoons.

Well I do like to write ( alot) I'm actually writing a screenplay for something right now. I might look into writing for animated shows. StriderKyo are you in the animation industry?

Game design sounds interesting, but every college out there that offers it as a degree looks like a joke.

I should have grown up wanting to be a doctor or something.Shit.

QFT. I'm about to graduate in may from a computer graphics program and nearly every person in the program who has specialized in animation (typically 3d) havn't even been able to find internships, let alone a job.

Nope. That field's just famous for how difficult it is to get in, and how surprisingly un-fun it is when you get there - an awful lot of people even on TNL have stories.
