WOW. That video is pretty amazing. The first Castlevania game was always difficult for me when I was a five year old. This guy makes the game look like one big joke, especially the bosses. Its funny to watch the video, because he knows exactly which candles to avoid and he knows how to exploit every little glitch. I think he doesn't use anything else except the Holy Water this entire game :)
EDIT - I spoke too soon, he is using the stop watch now. oh well.
I know my leet rep will going down here, but, I never beat the original Castlevania. Are the credits in this movie actually real?
Also, this guy is pretty damn impressive. I loved the original "bat-hop" in the first stage. Very classy.
That movie just ruined my childhood. I had no idea that you could walk in the ceiling in the underground, but I did take some pleasure in the fact that he had to stop for meat in the Clocktower.
That was some pretty crazy shit.
Speed runs with savestates and slowdowns are dumb. This isn't as much a showing of skill as it is of time devoted to doing it all perfectly no matter how many reshoots it takes. It's like being impressed that someone reached the max level in an MMO.
There are certain games where savestate compiling is fine, but this is not one of them.
Just so everyone is clear, this is a tool-assisted video. It's played in an emulator and absuses slowdown and savestates. I love watching these things to see how easy it is to break a game, but don't think this is someone actually playing normally.
And Yoshi, he probably stopped for that to save time later.
I never knew that tossing holy water on an enemy made it to where you could run through it (he did it with a couple of the skull dragon turrets). Or that the Grim Reaper could be beaten without the Triple Boomerang (unless these were just HAX).
I think it's interesting that you 'could' make use of the techniques going on here, in the very least. It's more of a dissection than an achievement.
The Dracula monster fight was just as suspect to me.Quote:
