I've always thought you were born that way too. I mean I couldn't imagine saying to myself 'Ok, I want the men from now on'. It just wouldn't work that way and because of that I've never understood how people act like it's a choice.

I know we're way off topic, but I'd like to know what the few gay members of TNL think about that.
Research still hasn't definitively proven whether teh gay is innate or not.
Oh fuck you. If you dont think the Religious Right has completely hijacked the Republican party and intruded on good government policy (stem cell research to save lives, Plan B over the counter, etc.) and good education policy you are nuts. The Religious Left is a radical fringe and is mostly shunned by the media and government. Jesse Jackson gets lip service but thats about it (right now he's advocating for poor people in New Orleans, as opposed to Pat Robertson declaring war on Hugo Chavez and Dover, PA). And Larry Summers wasn't fired because of that statement (he said it 14 months before he turned in his resignation) - it wasn't a highlight of his tenure at Harvard, but he never was a good fit for the school. He fought the faculty from day one, and as such was pretty much doomed from the beginning. But keep in mind he was Treasury Secretary under Clinton, so he has solid liberal credentials.Quote:
I'm also tired of everything related to religious stupidity being pinned on that evil "Religious Right".

Well I mean we didn't know for sure, but he was always super super effeminate. Like a tomgirl. Enjoyed playing dress up, barbie dolls, musical theater. Liked to pretend to be heroines like Sailor Moon or Princess whatever. Really enjoyed (and still does) sucking on things. :PQuote:

So it seems fitting now that his sexual preference is what it is.
I have a really cute picture of him trying on my aunt's wedding dress when he was four or so.
Cowutopia's tale reminded me of that 60 Minutes piece about researching the gay gene. During the segment, they showcased young twin brothers. One brother liked to play with toy soldiers and guns. The other likes to play with dolls, has a lot of pink in his room, and paints his fingernails. It is very apparent that the fem kid is going to grow up gay. They also showed older twin brothers, one of whom is gay.
This brings up an interesting point--if being gay is supposed to be a genetic thing, why aren't both twins gay, since they share the same DNA? The piece concluded that more research was needed, but it's apparent that are other factors besides genetics that determine if you are gay or not.

For my gay friends sake I have to learn to put up with that. Even though he's really cool and doesnt subject his straight friends to it, generally).
But,not my place to judge, leave that to the Big Guy Upstairs. This crazy Christian lady at that college needs to do the same.
hmm, that is kind of interesting.Makes you wonder...Quote:

*sigh*
For love the love of zeus.
Advocate, I want to beat your head in with a shovel for starting this stupid thread.
What the hell did you expect to accomplish other than dragging out the usual TNL "I hate Christians" bullshit?
You'd think after all watching all the bullshit that I've had thrown my way because of my faith over these last few years that the Christians on these boards would get a clue and not only stop responding to these troll-bait threads (and stop fueling the fire), but stop making them.
Here's a rule of thumb, if they don't ask about your faith then they probably don't give a damn:
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." 1 Cor 1:18
More to the point:
"Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit." 1 Cor 12:3
and finally:
"Avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate stife" 2 Tim 2:23
The Word makes it plain that all men are evil and are not mindful of God and if anyone comes to God it is because they were drawn by the Holy Ghost. "Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you"
There are no seekers here my brothers, you should know this by now.
Put this ridiculous pissing contest away and move on.
I'm just taking a wild guess, but what about those stupid sex laws that most states still have on the books?Quote:
