Wrestling isn't the regional affair it used to be - and to be frank, Rock could only get away with what he did and still get heat because they were in Atlanta. Goldberg took a beating because he was set to go over at the PPV, and having the cowardly Rock beat up on the monster Berg was the right way to set up a marquee PPV matchup.
And calling a quick comic bit with Golddust damaging is a stretch. It really doesn't need a follow-up. Some thought a "they both have Gold in their names" skit would be good for a quick laugh, and it was. They aren't going to call themselves Goldie Goldilocks now and gun for tag gold *har*.
Didn't catch either Raw or Backlash, and sounds like I didn't miss especially much. With Rock leaving and Booker being shoved back down to the midcard yet again, part of me is considering just outright boycotting Raw till this HHH/HBK/Nash blowjob-fest blows over, hopefully soon. Despite the fact nothing else being on Monday nights I'd watch, I'd still rather spare myself the two hours of pain the WWE's been greeting me with such regularity.
I imagine Vince looking at the results for the "would you like to see more cruiserweights and daredevils?" question and throwing it away, pretending that he never saw it, while telling himself "cruiserweights are for fags, cruiserweights are for fags...."
Also, it is no coincidence that the question "would you like to see more big-muscle stars?" has only one example: Brock. Everyone is going to say yes, and Vince will say "I told you they liked A-Train!"
Overall, Raw was better than usual.
They booked Goldberg well tonight. The Spear through the barricade looked cool, but the Jackhammer on big fat Rosie or Jamal or whoever the fuck that clown was was damn impressive. Say what you want about the man, but Goldberg is a strong bastard. He wasn't horrible on the mic last night, either. I mean, he didn't recite War and Peace, but he was solid.

Holy shit, if the best Kevin Nash can manage is a slow walk then Triple H will be safe forever. I was laughing my ass off as Big Lazy was "chasing" Triple H, and HHH did everything in his power to make sure the big lug could keep up with him...he'd run for a second, then stop and turn around, trip over something, bump into a wall...Triple H had the same injury as Nash (worse, actually), and he runs all over the place. God, Nash is worthless...did anyone else laugh when he couldn't break that limo window with the sledgehammer and finally broke it with an overhead blow, only to lose the hammer? :)

*EDIT* Here's the answer- Stone Cold has officially announced his retirement from in-ring action. Apparently, his neck is totally shot and he's eventually going to need two more fusions. Other than maybe a big one-time match, perhaps at next year's Wrestlemania, he'll never wrestle again. :(

you guys notice during the backlash match whenb all hell broke loose Nash would wait for people to run up to him when hed give them the boot, clothesline, etc....instead of running towards the person. he just stood in the middle of the ring for like 2 minutes while the other team took turns running up to him to get knocked down. then last night just reaffirmed to me that if the man should run he would fall apart.
and dolemite, you think goldberg picking up that 2mw chump was nice? get a video of him jackhammering the big slow in wcw. impressive stuff.
and the only reason they brought back austin is because their only good spot (the rock) is gone again and they need at least one place in the whole show that people seem interested.

Hearing Richards cuss after the spear was a nice touch, it added emphasis on the damage of the move. WWE needs to do a lot of that if they expect to keep Goldberg over. Plus, it could get Richards more air-time.

I'm honestly suprised he has yet to injure himself. Raw MIGHT have actually have been worth watching if only for the unintentionally funny Nash/HHH chase.

I thought RAW was okay. Booker T and Goldberg are now seen as being friends, which is a good thing for both men. Goldberg is getting some dimensions to his character and even though I hate the man as a performer, no one can deny that the guardrail spot wasn't impressive and entertaining.
Jericho has his new segment and it was cool, but I don't think they reacted or booked the way Steven Richards was speared right. Not the actual spear, but he should have had a mic or something and said something like: "We're not going to take this! Lets get him guys!" and then turned around to realize he's alone.
As it stands right now, I don't think the fans understood it and the silence screamed that.

It turns out Benoit is stuck in another dead end fued with the FBI. I'm glad the FBI is getting exposed because there's a lot of talent in the faction but Benoit deserves so much more.
Same with Guerrero, but atleast his fued is for the titles and given the fact that his match with Team Angle at Backlash was the best on the card, it's a good thing.

Big deal...Jeremy and I could have has a "Loser Changes his Avatar" match at Backlash and it would have been the second best match on the card.

Boyfriend Larry Pfohl (Lex Luger) was brought in for questioning since the death took place in his condo. He was released earlier today. A cause of death won't likely be determined until the results of toxicology reports, which won't be available for about 30 days.

Mr America is a rip-off of the Patriot, remember that guy? He had a short fued with Bret Hart for the WWF Title, he dissaperad though.
The Patriot (Del Wilkes) had been around long before his WWF run. He was in the old GWF and held their North American title, as well as their TV title. He then went to WCW and won tag gold with Marcus Bagwell. His first pinfall loss in WCW was the loss of the tag gold. He went to the WWF, and used the music now used for Kurt Angle and Team Angle, and recieved a nice little push.
Yeah I remember the Patriot in GWF and the Dark Patriot angle, forgot about his run in WCW.
The Dark Patriot was Doug Gilbert, if I remember correctly.

I think the face v. heel match dogma is stifling too many interesting matchups - especially since lots of fans cheer for heels anyway. Yes, if this were Wrestlemania, I don't think Brock-Benoit would be a good choice, but it would be better here than giving Show a lame duck title shot, since the fans always get behind his big PPV matches.Quote:

Normally I don't think losses hurt guys too much but in the case of Show, he either has to be booked as an unstoppable monster or no one's going to buy him as a threat. I liked Show best when he worked the comedy angles...i.e. the "Huckster."
I think you mean the "Showster", like his "Showkishi" and other comedy angles during the period where he assisted with Rock's SNL apperance. I think Show has a great personality and mic presence, and he does have quite the sense of humor, which was apparent in his SNL appearance. Unfortunately, his size limits those he can run an extended program with, the bookers don't seem to know whether they want this guy to be a main eventer or a mid carder, and he just can't stay in shape, whatever the reasons may be. His work ethic has been questioned and up to this point, he's been perhaps the biggest disappointment in the WWE, which is a shame because I really liked the way he debuted when he was just Paul Wight.
One more thing: Why isn't Jericho on Smackdown! again?
Show has a good sense of humor, but as a wrestler and a monster heel, he just doesn't seem to work. He's terrible in the ring and I don't think the audience will ever take him seriously enough.
His gimmick run where he dressed as various costumed characters like Shownan the Barbarian was one of the more entertaining things they ever did.
The Guerrero/Hardy&Moore and Benoit&Rhyno/FBI matches were decent, but the Kendrick/Cena rapoff stole the show. He and Cena should have some decent matches with Cena's power-style and Kendrick's cruiser-skills and great selling. Should be an entertaining feud.
Oh, and R.I.P. Miss Elizabeth, First Lady of Wrestling, childhood innocence takes yet another blow with this :(
I was 11 when I watched WM7 and when she and Randy got back together after his match with Warrior, after a couple of years apart it was one of the most emotional moments in wrestling history for anyone who watched it and I think it even brought a tear to my eye.

John Cena gave Brock Lesnar a very unevened match and the win helped Cena more than Lesnar. It was pretty good. I don't really know what to make of it, but I would love to see Chris Jericho go back to Smackdown in a trade for somebody... and where the hell is Kanyon?

It's just a show, Heyman booking Show proved that damage can be undone in time. Big Show went from a RAW jobber to a Smackdown upper-card talent in a well and believable fashion in 2 weeks. That says something is terribly wrong with the quality of writing on RAW.
As if the writing on Smackdown is any better?
Smackdown succeeded in the second half of 2002 based on the strengths of its in-ring talent, not the writing. Although Big Show's successful push and the Angle/Benoit/Guerrero feud was top-notch Heyman.
The writing with the four men wrestling it out was amazing. Sometimes the best writer know when elaborate stories aren't the answer, hence the in-ring action speaking for itself.
Heyman did great, and now because of recent events we are treated to cookie cutter building of stars. Cena has so much potential, yet is already made to look like a joke because of his non-shalont ending with Brock at Backlash. The match did wonders for his in-ring presence, but Brock basically just got up, and finished the match.
Ah, as if Vince McMahon hasn't brought enough aging/useless wrestlers back to the WWE...

It's funny, I was watching Fox news the other night and thay actually had a story about Miss Elizabeth's death. In the segment, they showed WCW clips of her walking with Lex to the ring and ripping off his shirt so he could pose. They made mention that Lex had been arrested for beating her on Easter sunday but said he was not a suspect in her death. Guerrero is the best worker in the WWE today. Chris Benoit and Angle are the best wrestlers. Team Angle have chemistry together as do the Guerreros. This fued is interesting and entertaining and the Guerreros - Team Angle match was the best on the Backlash PPV.

That would be my first inclination as well. Of course they're going to announce it on the site, that takes no time to do. Putting up a graphic takes a bit more time. They probably didn't have time for one to air on SmackDown, and they couldn't do anything to acknowledge the death on-air due to the show being in the can. They'll probably do something on Raw for her.

Honest mistake. Mr.McMahon was talking about Hogan so much it squewed my thought process. It's very apparent they're not the same person and that's because I saw a dark match and Mr.America totally did a 450 corkscrew.Quote:

Uh-oh....as you know, Triple H faces Kevin "Big Gimpy" Nash at the upcoming Judgement Day PPV. If the results of their house show matches over the weekend are any indication, we're in for a 5-star classic!

If this is what's supposed to be headlining the next two or three PPVs, an awful lot of work is going to need to be done. Atrociously bad match.

Essentially he just kind of fell forward onto Helmsley. I don't think Triple H is bad in the ring, but he is well past the days he could carry anyone, let alone Nash in this state. Nash wasn't good to begin with, but it's quite obvious that years of knee injuries and his recent quad tear have put him into a situation where he just plain shouldn't be wrestling anymore.

Mr. America's mask reminds me of the one John Studd wore when he did a similar gimmick. Also, that shot of Mr. America is fucking awesome due to the stupidity of it. Nash needs to retire now if he can't even do one of his biggest moves, the elbow drop. Seriously, I respect the hell out of the guy, and admire him for coming back, but if he can't even drop an elbow properly, it's time to hang it up. Hell, Dusty Rhodes is in his mid-to-late 50s and even HE can drop an elbow.
I have the issue of WCW Magazine where that Hogan ear cupping thing with the big foam ear is in. Quite a funny pic. Korian, steriod abuse will make you look pretty damned scary.
